THE VALUE OF VALUES Before something can be a full value, it must meet certain criteria: It must be: Chosen freely Chosen from among alternatives (there were other choices) Chosen after due reflection Prized and cherished Publicly affirmed (you do not hide that is important to you) Acted upon (you live it in your daily life) Part of a pattern that is a repeated action (virtue)

  4. STANDARDS FOR IMPORTANT VALUES

  5. A value that is important to you should meet these standards: • You feel that not only is it important to you now but that it will remain important in your future.

  6. You include it in your life even if you have to give up something else for it. • You stick to it even if your friends don’t agree with you. • You think the world would be a better place if everyone appreciated this value.

  7. Always be aware of your Values and practice them daily!
