  2. LifeForm Artificial life has been an interesting field of research since the early seventies Interactive Art

  3. LifeForm • Building block: agent

  4. LifeForm • Building block: agent • World: grid (toroidal or flat)

  5. LifeForm • Agents have different behaviour properties: • Persistence • Sociability • Ignorance

  6. LifeForm • Behaviour properties can vary in strength • Behavioural properties determine the behaviour of individual agents and behaviour between other agents which causes complex collective behaviour to emerge

  7. LifeForm • Passive and active infrared sensors are used with a MuVium microcontroller • Behaviour properties can be influenced by actions of the spectator making it an interactive work of art

  8. LifeForm Demo

  9. Extensions • Groups of agents with their own properties, with possible interaction

  10. Extensions • Groups of agents with their own properties, with possible interaction • Predator-prey

  11. Extensions • Groups of agents with their own properties, with possible interaction • Predator-prey • Conway’s game of life

  12. Extensions • Groups of agents with their own properties, with possible interaction • Predator-prey • Conway’s game of life • Visual or auditorial feedback of the viewers stimulation of the sensor
