Highlights of activity in 2018 • Diversity training for managers – Inclusive LeadershipWith the support of the Diversity Office and the L&D Group, IT hosted a first-time 1-day workshop to support managers in developing Inclusive Leadership skills. • Internship for STEM students with disabilities In the framework of a programme granted with a European Physical Society award, two CERN internship positions have been created for students with disabilities. • Diversity Roundtable Under this new initiative, representatives from formal and informal groups, who are actively engaged in diversity and inclusion across CERN, meet several times per year to exchange ideas and develop joint actions, ensuring the application of a coherent diversity strategy and actions. • EIROforum D&I Working GroupFollowing the proposal of CERN and ESO, the eight EIROforum organisations have established a dedicated ad hoc working group on diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace. • Raising awareness / sharing CERN’s vision on D&I More than twenty workshops, seminars and presentations on diversity and inclusion were held at CERN; presentations on the subject were also delivered at the ICHEP and Quark Matter conferences. • Gender Equality in EducationBuilding on an activity that started in 2015, the Diversity Office has, since 2018 been rolling out a short diversity-related module for teachers visiting CERN in the framework of CERN’s National Teacher programmes. Volunteers working at CERN are now engaged in delivering the module. !In 2018, the number of questions, enquiries and solicitations to the Diversity Office increased by 75% from the previous year !
