  1. PHYSICAL EDUCATION FIRST AID AND CIVIL DEFENSE

  2. REQUIREMENT All AUA undergraduate students must satisfy: • a 120-hour requirement for Physical Education(PHED) and • a 40-hour First Aid and Civil Defense training Please note that these courses are required by Armenian law for all undergraduates in Armenia

  3. GRADING/CREDIT At this time, Physical Education, First Aid and Civil Defense courses do not carry credit toward undergraduate degrees. They are graded on a Passed/Not Passed basis and these grades are not included in GPA calculations. However, undergraduate students are not permitted to graduate with a NP grade on their transcripts.

  4. MANDATORY MEDICAL SREENING • All students must undergo medical screening prior to engaging in physical activity. Physicals are routinely performed at local clinics. Students must submit their medical report to the PE Director no later than September 15.   • Those with doctor-diagnosed physical restrictions will be assigned alternative Physical Education – To be determined by the PE Director.

  5. PHYSICAL EDUCATION OPTIONS There are three options to satisfy the Physical Education requirement at AUA: • Spartak Sports Complex • AUA Star Gym   • Team Sports  (e.g. basketball, football, volleyball, aerobic dance, etc.)

  6. FIRST AID AND CIVIL DEFENSE For Freshman students, the First Aid and Civil Defense training will take place during the fall term. Students will take 20 hours of First Aid and 20 hours of Civil Defense training. The course content will be delivered online, via Moodle: http://moodle.aua.am/course/index.php?categoryid=22

  7. AUA REGISTRATION • Freshman and Sophomore students will be automatically registered by the AUA Registrar for Physical Education under PHED 110. • Freshman students will be automatically registered by the AUA Registrar for First Aid and Civil Defense under PHED 152 and PHED 153.

  8. MOODLE Registration Freshman and Sophomore students will need to register for one of the Physical Education options on Moodle. The Moodle registration is NOT automatic and is required to complete the Physical Education component of Undergraduate Education at AUA.
