You will not be allowed in the hall during homeroom unless you are going to your locker. • Once you are finished with your breakfast, stay quiet and the breakfast person will take up the trash once everyone is finished. • You should not be out of your seat at any time, unless you raise your hand and have my permission or are going to your locker. • Watch Channel One while you are eating. Learn something outside of Andrews!! • When announcements are on, you are not to talk!! Stand for the pledge and DO NOT talk during the moment of silence. I take this time VERY seriously!!

  4. First things first….. A Little about You Name: Parents’ Name(s): Phone Number: Address: What you expect from me, as your teacher, this school year.

  5. What I Expect From You..As My Student • Always do your BEST!!! Your BEST is what you will be graded on!! • Remember….Instructional Time is for just that…Instruction. There is a time for you to listen and a time for you to talk. I promise we will have time for both during our time together. • BE RESPECTFUL!!!! • This includes: • Respect me as your teacher • Respect your classmates as your equals • Respect other adults (Not only in my class but always) • Respect yourself—Don’t hinder your own success by making bad decisions

  6. As Your Teacher…I Promise • To assist you in anyway possible to ensure that you succeed in this class • To be as fair as possible to all who are in my classroom • To hold you to a higher standard, because, as eighth grade students, I know that you are capable • To make sure that no others interrupt YOUR learning • To make sure that you do not hinder others learning • To do everything I can to make sure that your last year at Rosemary Middle is the BEST possible!!

  7. First Things First…School Rules and Consequences

  8. Classroom Rules During Instruction • Do not talk while I am teaching. Pay attention and take notes. I am here for you, and I will help you as long as you are helping yourself. • If you have a question or would like to answer a question…ALWAYS raise your hand. Do not yell out in class. This disrupts me and others. • Do not get out of your seat during class time. There will be time for you to sharpen your pencil and take care of the necessary items. • If you have an emergency, such as bleeding or restroom, raise your hand! Do not get up. I will get to you as soon as possible. • Take all necessary notes. You will be held accountable for all notes given in class, even if you are absent.

  9. Five Count

  10. When You Come In…. • Quietly come in and go to YOUR assigned seat. Do not wander around the room. • Get out all needed materials. Be prepared for class! • The pencil sharpener will collect all pencils and sharpen them before class starts. You do not need to be up. • Make sure you have your notebook and student companion book out. • Once all materials are out and your pencil is sharpened, begin working on the warm up that is on the board. You will have one daily. • Once you complete the warm up, sit quietly and wait for me to begin. This is not social time!!

  11. Restroom • You will only be allowed to go to the restroom during the first and last 5 minutes of class. Make sure you ask during these time frames. • If for some reason you have an emergency and must go after this time, raise your hand. Do not get out of your seat and do not yell out in class. • You will only be allowed 2 “emergency” restroom breaks each 9-weeks, so use them wisely. I will be keeping track. After your first 2, I will begin behavior observation forms for classroom disruption. • Restroom Passes

  12. When You Leave… • When the bell rings, that does not mean get up and run out of the room. • Once everyone is seated and quiet (this includes no whispering), I will release you to leave. • You are to exit the room quickly and quietly.

  13. Walking Down The Hall… • We’re not in elementary school, so we’re not going to spend a lot of time on this. • How should we walk down the hall?

Lunch (4th Period Only) • Quietly come in, have a seat, and wait for me to call you to line up. • Once I call you to line up, you will line up by wrapping around the room. • No one should be in front of the Promethean Board!! • Line up quickly and quietly so that we can hurry to lunch. • If the line is extremely loud or people are playing, we will sit back down and wait for all other classes to go and then we will line up by rows. We will go last. • Remember…this is wasting your lunch time! • Recess: Common Sense should tell you how you should come in from recess (think back to everything else that we have covered!)
