Trade in the Northeast • The northeast was rich with beaver pelts, which were highly needed in Europe. • The Europeans set up a system of trade with the Indians for their beaver pelts. • They traded things such as: clothes, fabric, food, and tools. • The trade system helped to develop large settlements in the Northeast that are some of the large Northeastern cities today.
