Shocking facts • Over 1.5 billion people do not have access to clean drinking water • Almost 4 million die each year from water related diseases • Half the world’s schools do not have access to clear water, nor adequate sanitation. • 80% of all diseases in the developing world come from water born diseases.

Shocking Facts continued… • Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water related illness • Americans use 346,000 million gallons of freshwater per day • There are over 2,100 known drinking water contaminants that can be in tap water in any given region • Only one percent of the earth's water is available for drinking water.

Shocking facts continued… • A five minute shower in an American household will use more water than a person living in a developing world slum will use in a whole day. • Approx. 2.5 billion people lack access to sanitation facilities • Water consumption in a US household is eight times that of an Indian household.

Shocking facts continued… • One gallon of gasoline can contaminate approximately 750,000 gallons of water. • The average five-minute shower takes between 25-50 gallons of water. • More than 39,000 gallons of water are used to manufacture a new car, including tires. • You can survive about a month without food, but only five to seven days without water.
