  1. Anitha Neve Staff Engineer, Operations Western Interconnection Results Reliability-based Control Field Trial February 15, 2011 Webinar

  2. Criteria for Evaluation of FT • Manual Time Error Corrections • Unscheduled Flow • Magnitude of Accumulated NERC Inadvertent Interchange • Magnitude of Accumulated Primary Inadvertent Interchange • Frequency Performance (Jamie Murphy presentation) • Path Flows • ADI transfers/schedules

  3. Manual Time Error Corrections (MTEC) • Trends Noticed in 2010 • Total MTEC • No increase in the number of corrections • Small increase in the hours of corrections (excluding 2008 as unusual year) • Slow and Fast MTEC • Increase in slow MTEC • Decrease in fast MTEC • Minutes/seconds of Time Error Achieved • Increase in the number of minutes/seconds corrected

  4. Comparison of Total MTEC by Year

  5. Fast and Slow MTEC

  6. Time Corrected with MTEC

  7. Unscheduled Flow • No noticeable increase in Unscheduled flow on the qualified paths

  8. NERC Inadvertent Interchange • Increase in off-peak value for few RBC participants • Increase in the absolute off-peak values for RBC participants in WECC

  9. Primary Inadvertent Interchange • Numbers will be available once the WIT calculations are validated

  10. Transmission Issues • Path 3 flows affected by RBC • OTC exceeded several times in Jan- Feb 2011 • Recent issue brought to PWG attention by BCHA • PWG yet to review this incident • BAs encouraged to bring such events to PWG and SDT attention
