Did You Know? Under the Law, a Junior High student can be legally charged for his or her actions.
British Columbia Teens charged after brawl posted online (2011) • More than a dozen bystanders watched as two girls (ages 13 and 14) repeatedly kicked another girl who fell to the ground after being punched in the face. • Police are recommending assault charges against the girls. The situation escalated through allegations posted on Facebook

The more kids care about being popular, the more aggressive they may become.
If they have friends whocare about being popular, they are more likely to be aggressive.

For The Person Verbally Bullying • You have no right doing this. • If you didn’t mean these words, prove it with positive actions. • Verbally abusive teenagers are at a higher risk of continuing this habit as adults.
For The Target of Verbal Bullying • The person bullying wants to lower your self-esteem. • You don’t deserve to be treated this way. • Talk to someone about it.
For The Bystanders of Verbal Bullying • Don’t laugh at the “joke”. • If it’s safe, tell the person to give it up. • Tell a trusted adult what happened. • Support the person targeted.

Physical Aggression • Is assault – after the age of 12, these behaviours are considered criminal. • Can happen to anyone… even stars • Is illegal By Age 24, 60% of identified bullies have a criminal conviction
For The Bystanders of Physical Bullying • There are NO INNOCENT BYSTANDERS • Its your social responsibility to let an adult know about these incidents. • When you hear rumours of a planned fight, you have an obligation to inform an adult.
Relational • Bullying
Relational Aggression This intentional exclusion act is done to hurt someone. This is emotional abuse.
Relational Bullying • Can be hidden under the, “I didn’t know” excuses • Is psychological in nature
