  2. Spotlight on Audrey Gardner In 2007, Audrey Gardner and her daughter began traveling to Africa and were introduced to various families in the villages and town in and around Dakar, Senegal.  Upon returning home, Ms. Gardner and her daughter began discussions about the disparity between educational opportunities and lifestyles of youth in Dakar.   In August, 2007, Ms. Gardner began working with an organization that provided summer and winter camps to children in the various villages in Dakar.  During her first camp visit, Ms. Gardner had a dream of connecting the US to Africa. Through Mr. Sow, First Vice President, Croix-Rouge Senegalese and President of YAWB in Dakar (who works with various youth organizations in Dakar) Ms. Gardner became the liaison for Youth Action Without Borders.    Continued on the next page.

  3. Spotlight on Audrey Gardner (continued) • After numerous trips and her yearly participation in their summer and winter camps, Mr. Sow introduced Ms. Gardner to a consortium of businesses and organizations.  Ms. Gardner, along with three Senegalese members of this association decided this is a great opportunity for all four individuals to make a difference between Dakar and the US.  Youth Action Without Borders ("Y.A.W.B") is an organization designed to raise awareness of communication technology, educational opportunities and modern day farming techniques to youth in Dakar, Senegal and host fundraising events to provide training, workshops, tools, mentorships, equipment, educational and vocational opportunitiesThe mission of Y.A.W.B provides a multi-cultural experience for youth ages 5-17 experiencing and sharing life's lessons in diverse cultural environments.
