New Goals for Course • Increase reflection about online group collaboration • Add Reflection questions for group facilitators • Encourage members to develop strategies to engage those who do not share or share little with the group • Ask participants to reflect on skills needed to effectively function in the online discussion

  3. Objectives • Conduct a discussion about a particular topic in the Chat Room • Maintain focus on the task to be accomplished during the discussion of the weekly problem • Articulate challenges of using text based communication as a staffing and collaborative tool • Recommend ways in which the Chat Room format can be enhanced to increase collaboration and reduce the amount of time to resolve issues.

  4. Changes • Move information about chat rooms to first session the involves Praxis exercises • Arrange for task assignments for each week (leader, recorder) • Add reflection questions about the meeting process • Development of ideas to engage those who do not share in the group • Development of reflections questions for students to answer after they have facilitated the group session

  5. Implementation Schedule • Changes will be completed in WebCT by the end of December, 2002 • Course to be offered in Spring 2003 or Spring 2004
