  5. Stakeholders • Project beneficiaries: • 500 inhabitants in An Binh islet • Project partners: • Golden Bridge • Institute of Energy of Vietnam (IEV) • Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) of Quang Ngai Province.

Compliancewith Main National Policies • Promotion of renewable energy (Vietnam National Energy Development Strategy until 2020, with a vision towards 2050) • Electrification: 100% of households enjoying an electricity supply towards 2020 (Master plan VII) • Poverty reduction (Socio-economic development program for communes with especially difficult conditions, Decree 108-2006-ND-CP)

PROJECT IMPACTS A project with strong local impacts on: • Living standard • Education • Healthcare • Public services • Local economic development • Presently, inhabitants of An Binh islet have no electricity. • Replicability of the project models to nearby areas (Lý Sơn iland, and other unelectrified areas…)

  8. Project objectives • Feasibility Study and Action plan for setting up a RE – Based Hybrid Electrification System (solar and wind) • To supply electricity to all of more than 100 households (about 500 people) • in a remote, off-grid, and poor area

Project Outcomes • EEP Mekong Program support cover the pre-investment stage: • Data collection, measurements • Feasibility study • Project achievements: • FS Approval on 18th July, 2012 • Action plan to further develop the project (stakeholder meetings, development strategy, fundraising proposal for Pilot phase).

Pilot phase- Aim of the project • Installing a RE-Based Hybrid Elecfication System (Solar and Wind) • To supply electricity to all inhabitants of An Binh islet (Remote, off-grid, and poor area) • By ensuring sustainable low cost of electricity. • To set up an ESCO model – replicatedby similar islands that have no or limited electricity supply to ensure O&M for sustainable operation of the system

  13. Pilot project Implementation- Scope Equipments: • One 10kW wind power turbine, • 96 solar panels, • diesel generators, • Batteries • A 220V distribution line Steps to be conducted: • Land clearance • Purchase of equipments, • Installation • Testing • Commissioning • Training
