Basic Information:Name: Hugo Miguel Ramos dos SantosE-mail: hmiguel_s@hotmail.commced11048@fpce.up.pt Academic Pathway Degree in Educational Sciences in Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto (FPCEUP) with final classification 16. In the last year of degree Hugo made part of a research project, oriented by Prof. Drª. Orquídea Coelho, about poverty and social exclusion and that work obtained 19 as final classification. Studying Master Degree in Educational Sciences (FPCEUP) with specialization in “Youth, Education and Citizenships” and where he plans to research, under orientation of Prof. Drª. Sofia Marques Silva and Prof. Drª. Manuela Ferreira, about young gays narratives and homophobic bullying, their socio-educational pathways and transitions.

Experience as Volunteer • Volunteer in Project “107/37”of Cruz Vermelha about an Active Citizenship in older ages. • Volunteer in “Coração da Cidade” researching and helping to improve the work of institution with homeless persons. • Volunteer in “Voluntariado Estudantil Tutorial” (UP) helping young students to organize their studies in order to prevent school failure or dropout. • Volunteer in Project “Porto Arco Íris” which objective is to give visibility to LGBT (lesbian, gay, bissexual and transgender) “community” in North part of Portugal. • Volunteer in Project “Biblioteca Humana” (Human Library) talking with young boys and girls about Diversity in Schools in order to prevent bullying. • Volunteer in Project “E-Jogo” with Profª Drª Elisabete Ferreira. The project implies a research about the making decisions of young students in organizations.

  4. Volunteer in University of Porto (UP) • Enrichment • Sense of belonging to a community of learning • Lots of Accompanment Work based on Long-Life formation (i.e., workshops) • Multidisciplinary • Concerns about (active) citizenship • Great place to create new sociabilities

  5. Perspectives about volunteering • For me voluntary can be viewed as a double-edged sword: On the one hand, it can be way to develop a personal enrichment and professional competences; on the other hand, it can be seen as a way to fill up curriculum and simultaneously allow companies have manpower without the existence of a salary.

  6. Expectations about IP H.E.L.P. I hope… • Getting more knowledge about project design and volunteer activities • Participating entirelly in a project of volunteering • Rising my relational capital • Being part of discussion of these thematics, giving my situated educational point-of-view • Knowing more about Slovaquia culture(s) and the culture(s) of the rest of elements of IP (interculturality) • Creating new sociabilities
