  2. Laura Marling is one of the famous British folk-rock singer and a song-writer. She was born in Hampshire, in England on the 1st of February in 1990. She is the third and the youngest daughter of the fifth Baronet. Her father Sir Charles William Somerset Marling was a music teacher. He introduced her to folk music and shaped her musical tastes.

  3. Some facts about the Marlings • The Marling Baronetcy, of Stanley Park and Sudbury Park in the County of Gloucester, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on the 22 of May 1882 for the cloth manufacturer and Liberal politician Samuel Marling. The second Baronet served as High Sheriff of Gloucester in 1888. The third Baronet was a Colonel in the Army and was awarded the Victoria Cross. • Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, the 1st Baronet (1810-1883) • Sir William Henry Marling, 2nd Baronet (1835-1919) • Sir Percival Scrope Marling, the 3rd Baronet (1861-1936) • Sir John Stanley Vincent Marling, the 4th Baronet (1910-1977) • Sir Charles William Somerset Marling, the5th Baronet (born in 1951)

  4. Marling was educated at the Leighton Park School. It is situated in the town of Reading in Berkshire, in South East England. This school was founded in 1890, following the closure of Grove House School, also a Quaker establishment.

The beginning of Marling’s career At the age of 16 Marling moved to London where she soon joined a cluster of intertwined bands that were drawn to acoustic instruments and tradition-tinged melodies. The group formed a musical movement that was labelled “nu-folk” by the British press. She joined the original line-up of indie folk band “Noah and the Whale” and appears as a background vocalist on their debut album “Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down”

  6. Marling appeared on the British Indi-stage in 2006andpurchased a fame due to singles laid out on “My Space”.   7. Laura plays a lot of musical instruments: guitar, piano, ukuleleand bass, vocal.

  8. Brit Awards On the 16 of February in 2011 Laura Marling was nominated for the Brit Awards and won award Best Female Solo Artist.

  9. MERCURY PRIZE Marling’s debut album «I Cannot Swim», her second album «I Speak Because I Can», and her fourth album «Once I Was An Eagle» were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2008, 2010 and 2013.
