  4. Philosophy • Empirical research shows that all students can learn to sing and read music • Academic - not extra! • Full Credit Given • No “Fluff”/not exploratory • Sacred Music • Musical Heritage and Culture • Texts will be discussed.

  5. All Kids Can Learn To Sing! Research shows that musical talent is not a fixed trait. Both boys and girls go through a vocal mutation (change). Students will improve with consistent effort and attention to classroom instruction.

  6. Fair Grading Policy Students enter 7th Grade at different stages of vocal development and have had varying degrees of exposure to music reading and theory. If a student puts forth a strong effort and contributes fully to the rehearsals, I will minimize the effect of music theory and vocal skills tests on the quarter grade.

  7. Performance Requirement Each student is required to attend all performances. Excused • Death in the Family • Extreme Illness • Religious Holiday Unexcused • Cavs Game • Birthday party • Athletic Event – Game • Let your coach know your choral commitment the first day of the season.
