Landforms and Bodies of Water • The main bodies of water in San Francisco is the San Francisco Bay and the San Francisco river. • Some landforms in San Francisco include Grand View Park, Forest Hill, and Alamo Square San Francisco. • San Francisco is very hilly. There are a lot of hills you can find here.

  3. Golden Gate Bridge • The Golden Gate Bridge is a bridge spanning from the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. • The bridge was constructed in 1933 and was designed by Joseph Strauss. It took over the course of four years to complete. • It connects San Francisco with Marine County and is 1600 meters long. It cost 50 cents to cross the bridge. It is the world’s largest suspension bridge.

  4. Aquarium of the Bay • The Aquarium of the Bay is a public aquarium located in downtown San Francisco. • The aquarium has over 50 sharks, which is a lot for a aquarium. • The aquarium has over 2,000 other interesting animals.

  5. Museum of Modern Art • The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is an art museum. • The museum has over 27,000 different works of art. • It has photography, paintings and sculptures, architecture and design, and media arts. • Each year the museum gets over 1,000 new paintings.

Coit Tower • The Coit tower is a 210 foot tower in the Telegraph Hill of San Francisco. • It was built in 1933 and was requested by Lillie Hitchcock Coit. • It was constructed by Arthur Brown and Henry Howard. • The Coit Tower gives a great view of the city and it helps when you are lost so you can look up and know where you are in the city. The Coit tower consists of hundred of murals, most of them depicting pictures during the Great Depression.

  7. Cartoon Art Museum • The Cartoon Art Museum is located in downtown San Francisco. • It is home to over 6,000 cartoon imagination drawings. • It was created in 1984 by a group of cartoonist. • Over the 25 years of existents, the Cartoon Art Museum has had over 2000 exhibitions.

  8. Language • The main language in San Francisco is English. • Almost 98% of people in San Francisco speak English and the other 2% speak either Spanish or French.

  9. Government • San Francisco is a Constitution-based federal republic; strong democratic tradition. • The mayor of San Francisco is Edwin M. Lee. • San Francisco is part of the United States so it has the same government type as every other city in the United States.

  11. Economy • San Francisco has one of the better economy’s in the United Sates. • 80% of people in San Francisco have a job right now. • Even though America is in a tough time right now with the economy, San Francisco has managed to still have a good economy.

  12. Sports San Francisco also has sports teams which include: • Football- San Francisco 49ers. • Baseball- San Francisco Giants. • San Francisco only has 2 of the 4 major sports. • They do not have basketball or hockey.

Interesting Facts • San Francisco is ranked fourth of the richest city’s in the world. • Denim Jeans were invented in San Francisco. • Irish coffee was invented in San Francisco. • San Francisco is built on 43 hills. • The San Francisco Bay is considered the world’s largest landlocked harbor in the world.
