  1. Born Eric Arthur Blair (1903) , Orwell never abandoned his real name, but his first book was shown as the work of George Orwell (the last name he choose from the River Orwell). He was born in Bengal. After going back to England with his parents, he was sent in 1911 to a boarding school where he was known among the other boys by his poverty and his intellectual brilliance. He won scholarships to two of England's best schools, Winchester and Eton. Instead of accepting a scholarship to a university, Orwell wanted to follow family tradition and, in 1922, went to Burma as an assistant to the Imperial Police. In 1927 Orwell, on leave to England, decided not to return to Burma, and on Jan. 1, 1928, he quit the imperial police. In the autumn of 1927 he had started on a course of action to help him improve his writing skills. He went into the East End of London to live in cheap old houses among beggars; he spent a period in Paris and worked as a dishwasher in French hotels. Animal Farm Animal Farm is referring to the Russian revolution in 1917. George Orwell demonstrates many events of this by using the characters of Animals. The animals overthrow the Manor farm and turn it into Animal Farm. However there are two leaders running for the head of Animal Farm. This book is masterpiece in political literature and its dark metaphor rings thru clearly. Remains our great satire of the dark face of modern history – Malcolm Bradbury Animal Farm has seen off all the oppositions. It is valid today as it as fifty years ago - Ralph Steadman A wise, compassionate and illuminating fable of all times – The New York Times Absolutely first-rate…compare to Voltaire and Swift. – Edmund Wilson in The New Yorker George Orwell

  2. “Beasts of England! Beasts of Ireland!Beasts of land and sea and skies!Hear the hoof beats of tomorrow!See the golden future rise!”“The singing of this song threw the animals into the wildest excitement. Almost before Major had reached the end, they had begun singing it for themselves. Even the stupidest of them had already picked up the tune and a few of the words, and as for the clever ones, such as the pigs and dogs, they had the entire song by heart within a few minutes.” This is the song that gave the animal the inspiration and willingness to overthrow Manor Farm after The old Major passed away. The two pigs Snowball and Napoleon decide to take over the positing of The Old Major and to overthrow the Manor Farm. Anyhow for them it is clear there can only be one true leader to be the head of Animal Farm. Snowball convinces with great speeches while Napoleon is using Squealer. The animals of Animal Farm start working on the brilliant idea of building a windmillto produce electricity, but there is only one leader. A leader that makes the animals work hard and in very bad conditions. While the ex leader is trying to destroy the windmill and succeeds. Animal Farm moves from a happy and peaceful farm to a violent farm where animals have to fight and loose their friends. Their leader is strict and takes his role serious. George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm has introduced readers across the whole world to his way of rewriting history. George Orwell
