  3. Munich Conference (1938) • Took place in Munich, Germany • Hitler wanted Sudetenland - said German inhabitants were mistreated • Munich Conference was called • Agreement was reached - could not invade anywhere else • Germany broke agreement “Peace in our time”

Chamberlain’s Part • Had an “appeasement” policy - went to great lengths to avoid war • Signed the agreement • Realized Hitler could not be trusted • September 3, 1939: led Great Britain into war against Germany • Appeasement policy comes to an end Neville Chamberlain, far left Adolf Hitler, far right
