    2. Annual Health Check Independent sector Investigations Complaints One offs Concordat State of healthcare report What we do Annual health check – this is assessing and rating the NHS. It’s the most comprehensive picture yet of how the NHS is doing in relation to core standards, existing and new national targets and the patient experience of the system through our service reviews. We’re launching our new ratings website to the public on October 12th. It will contain a staggering 74,000 pieces of information about the NHS, which for patients will be presented in the form of a series of answers to questoins they commonly ask such as how long will I wait? Independent sector regulation – we will be publishing the results of our inspections also in the form of answers to questions commonly asked by patients, later this autumn Investigations into serious service failures such as at Stoke Mandeville, Northwick Park and Cornwall Second stage complaints about the NHS One offs, that is regimes such as the Hygiene Code and Controlled Drugs; and reviews such as those of Independent Sector Treatment centres and Foundation Trusts Concordat- we lead co-ordination of – inspection / regulation in healthcare Annual health check – this is assessing and rating the NHS.     4. For the first time trust boards have responsibility for getting the basics right the views of patients and the public are taken into account information is used in a modern way from a large number of sources, in order to target inspections

    5. Improving care outside hospitals – current activity PCT ratings – will focus more on commissioning next year Living well in later life – joint report on older peoples’ services Service reviews and studies – including self-care in diabetes ‘Measuring what matters – pathways and gaps

    6. Improving Care Outside Hospital – key challenges Developing an assessment framework - What do key elements of a good service look like? Availability of data – do national datasets exist? Are there other service areas with similar issues?

    7. Future developments Our Health, Our Care, Our Say - Outcomes based performance assessment – spanning health and social care. Seven ‘person - centred’ outcomes - improved health and well-being - improved quality of life - making a positive contribution - increased choice and control - freedom from discrimination - economic well-being - maintaining personal dignity and respect
