  3. Specials • Special Rotation • Day 1 Music • Day 2 P.E. • Day 3 Computers • Day 4 Music • Day 5 P.E. • Day 6 Library Curriculum Night

  4. Birthday Fun • All treats must be store bought. • District policy states that treats are individually wrapped for health reasons (such as Little Debbie Snacks). • Birthday treats are given out during morning recess. • No peanuts/peanut by-products. Curriculum Night

  5. Spalding • First four weeks we complete academic days 1-10 • Spelling begins week 5 • Phonogram, spelling, and spelling dictation tests are given on Fridays Curriculum Night

  6. Spelling Procedures • Monday:Students enter ten words; test on ten words. • Tuesday:Students enter ten more words; test on first twenty. • Wednesday:Students enter ten more words; test on last twenty. • Thursday:Students are given a practice test on all words. Curriculum Night

  7. Reading Open Court: first six units focus on -Phonemic Awareness -Sounds and Spelling -Blending -Reading Big Books /Anthology -Writing Reading Curriculum Night

  8. Math • Math Meeting • Class Fact Practice Sheet • Lessons (new math concepts) • Guided Class Practice Curriculum Night

  9. Math Homework • Math homework consists of facts and guided practice • Practice facts daily • Review homework with student Back to school

  10. Science/Social Studies • Aligned to state standards • Class science fair project will be in the winter • Social Studies curriculum includes: patriotic, state, early American, community, and civic history • Projects are completed in class Curriculum Night

  11. Homework • Homework is collected in the morning • Please do not sign the slip if homework has not been reviewed • If student forgot or left homework, it is completed at recess • Homework is graded for completion; 12 pts. weekly • Homework includes minimum of 15 minutes of reading per night Curriculum Night

  12. Homework Folder • Student papers are sent home in homework folders and in Weekly Folders • Please review student work and sign the parent log • Progress reports are sent home every four weeks Curriculum Night

  13. Grades • Papers with a score will be recorded in grade book • Report cards are given at the end of each quarter Curriculum Night

  14. Please teacher your child how to tie their shoes. • Imagine a class full of first graders with untied shoes Curriculum Night

  15. Bathroom • We take two bathroom breaks as a whole class. • If your child is out of the room (other than the two scheduled breaks), they miss valuable instruction time. Curriculum Night

  16. Tax Credits • First grade field trips are supported by tax credit donations. Please consider supporting our school with your donations. Curriculum Night
