  3. 2013-2013 What’s new: • Use of standard planning terminology (goal, objective, strategy...) • Resources to “maintain” before “change” • Project management Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

  4. 2013-2013 5 Goals: • Support Users of the NSRS • Modernize and Improve the NSRS • Expand Stakeholder Base • Develop Workforce • Improve Organizational Functionality Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

  5. Goal 1:Support the Users of the NSRS • Bluebooking and Datasheets • Shoreline • Airport Surveys • Field Operations • Online Tools These 5 tasks account for something like 80% of NGS employee’s workloads as is. Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

  6. Goal 2:Modernize and Improve the NSRS • Replace NAD 83 • Replace NAVD 88 • Re-invent Bluebooking • Fix the Toolkit • Better Surveying Concurrently in 2022 Without disrupting the current process! Fuller integration, platform independence, ease of use Research and update standards and specs - FGCC S&S: 29 years old - NGS 58 : 16 years old Major FGCS involvement! Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

Goal 3:Expand the NSRS Stakeholder Base through Partnerships, Education and Outreach • Validate RTNs • Engage New Stakeholders • University Engagement • Dynamic Web Presence • Educational Portfolio • IOCM Are those really NAD 83 coordinates, and how do we know? Who relies on the NSRS that doesn’t even know it? Research grants, cooperative work, NGS guest lectures at Universities Better web page organization, Speak with “one voice” Materials about NGS for K-12 through Graduate School Map once, use many times Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

Goal 4:Develop and Enable a Workforce with a Supportive Environment • Educated Workforce • Recruiting • Institutional Knowledge “Back to school you go!” Open announcements, ease of application, getting the word out that this is a great place to work! Documentation, mentoring. Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee

Goal 5:Improve Organizational and Administrative Functionality • Project Management • Information Technology Support • Socio-Economic Awareness • Records Management • Regional Advisor Program Rather than “ad hoc” projects Security, Capability, User Interface Knowing what we’re worth, and making sure the story is being told Digital Library, Database cleanup Fully funded by NGS, less people, more areas covered Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee
