  1. MATCH PLAY - TEAM

  2. What is the Team Match Play? • The team match play differs from the individual match play by having three archers acting as one unit, shooting one by one within a short time frame, and who are depending on each other as “a team”. • The team match play consists of 4 ends of 6 arrows, two by each archer, and with cumulative scores for both recurve and compound. • 16 teams proceed from the Qualification to the Elimination round. The team match play starts from the Elimination Round.

  3. In the Elimination Round the teams shoot simultaneously, while in the Finals Round they shoot alternately (World Championships) • Simultaneous shooting: The team may rotate their shooting according to their own preference, shooting one or two arrows when on the line, but in the end the archers have shot two arrows each. • Alternate shooting: The team shoots three arrows, one by each archer, then the time stops and the other team shoots three arrows. This routine is then repeated to finish the 6 arrows end.

  4. Team Match Play • As for the individual competition the teams are seeded according to their position in the Qualification Round. • Byes are permitted. • During match play, the position of the teams on the shooting line will follow the match –play chart as shown in the Book 2 of the C&R.

  5. Team Match Play – particular rules • The Teams (the archers) are still in their box behind the one meter line until the start shooting signal is given. • There is a time penalty, causing the archer moving forward to go back and “start over” if: • An archer moves beyond the one meter line before the start signal. • An archer moves beyond the one meter line before the previous archer has crossed the line on his way back from the shooting line. • An archer removes his arrow from the quiver (point of the arrow visible) before he is straddling the shooting line.

  6. Team Match Play – particular rules • If a time penalty is given, the judge’s procedure will be as follows: - He will raise the yellow card and call the name of the team loudly and clearly. • - If the team does not react to the yellow card and thus shoots the arrow, the judge will raise the red card and the deduction of the highest score of the team will take place.

  7. Team Match Play – Shoot-off Elimination Round • In the event of a shoot-off during the elimination round, the teams will have one minute (60 sec.) to shoot three arrows, one archer at the time shooting his arrow. The teams shoot simultaneously. Finals Round • In the finals round, when the teams shoot alternately, each team shoots one arrow alternating. * Team A one arrow, team B one arrow etc. (A-B-A-B-A-B)

  8. Team Match Play – Shoot-off Scoring during a shoot-off • During a shoot-off ( elimination and finals rounds), the team shooting the highest score wins. If the teams both have the same score, then the team with the arrow closest to the centre wins. In the event of a tie, then the team with the second closest to centre arrow wins (and possibly the 3rd arrow closest to centre if necessary).
