  2. Family Support Partner Role

  3. Family Support Partner (FSP) Role • FSPs provide a unique service. • FSPs are not case managers. • FSPs are not therapists. • FSPs help bridge the gaps for families with children experiencing severe behavioral health challenges. • FSPstake leadership roles in local area Family Nights.

  4. What does a FSP do? • FSPs model and teach undeveloped skill sets. • FSPs provide specific, time limited services that are guided by the wraparound plan. • FSPs provide services that compliment what is happening in the clinical setting. • FSPs attend Individualized Education Plan meetings. • FSPs work with families to achieve the identified goals on the wraparound plan.

Examples From Local Systems of Care • A mother learned how to read and follow a recipe and cook meals for her child. • A parent learned to develop a budget and follow it. • A parent learned how to plan meals, develop a grocery list and make grocery shopping a learning activity for the family. • A mother and father learned how to show a united front and set firm boundaries for their teenagers.

  6. FSP Logistics • There are 8 FSPs serving in 8 of the 16 Division of Behavioral Health (DBHS) service areas in the State. • Seven Wraparound Demonstration Project Providers receive System of Care (SOC) funding to support a .50 full time equivalent (FTE) FSP. • One Wraparound Demonstration Project Provider uses flexible funding to allow the trained FSP to provide services and supports.

FSP Logistics • Area 2 - Counseling Associates, Inc. • Area 4 - Mid South Health Systems, Inc. • Area 6 - Health Resources of AR • Area 7 - Mid South Health Systems, Inc. • Area 8 - Health Resources of AR • Area 9 -Alternative Opportunities (AO) Day Spring Behavioral Health of AR and Western AR Counseling and Guidance Center • Area 12 - Southeast AR Behavioral Healthcare System, Inc. • Area 13 - Southwest AR Counseling and Mental Health Center

  9. FSP Logistics • FSPs are currently available to provide support to families from 51 counties in 8 DBHS service areas. • FSPs are currently serving 48 families. • FSPs carry an average caseload of 6 families.

  10. Who is a FSP? • All 8 FSPs are caregivers of children or youth who have been identified with a mental health diagnosis. • Two FSPs are grandmotherswho have experience accessing the mental health and school systems to get their children’s needs met.
