  2. Location • Westernmost of Canada's 10 provinces • Washington St., Idaho and Montana to the south • Alberta to the east • Yukon to the north • Alaska to the north west

  3. Physical Features • Huge mountains:Rocky Mountains and Columbia Mountains • Deep valleys • Tons of forests • BC's total land and freshwater area is 95 million hectares • Coastal islands • Occupies about 10% of Canada's land surface • Nearly 1000 provincial parks

  4. Climate • Most varied climate in the country • Most of the time it is wet and mild • Cool in the summer and warm in the winter • Arctic chill comes into the north in the winter

  5. Regions • The Cordillera • A small bit of the Interior Plains

  6. Natural Resources • BC is the third largest generator of hydroelectricity in the world • Natural gas, oil, softwood, copper, gold, zinc, sulphur, asbestos, coal, petroleum, dairy cattle and fishing are some of the natural resources in BC

  7. Animal Life • Land- Spirit bears, lynx, elk, deer, wolves, bears, cougars, rubber boa, wolverines, moose, beaver • Air- Canada geese, snowy owl, common raven • Water- Pacific • salmon, rainbow trout

  8. Sports • Professional teams- Vancouver Canucks (NHL), BC Lions (CFL), Whitecaps (MLSF)‏ • Hosted events- 2011 Grey Cup, 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralypic games, 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships
