Wyman Teen Outreach Program (TOP) • Nationally-replicated youth development approach aimed at preventing teen pregnancy, and helping young people make consistent progress in school • Guided classroom discussions and meaningful service learning • Evidence-based, Tier-1 teen pregnancy prevention program (CT DSS, US OAH)
Class Discussions • 15-17 year olds, - curriculum focuses on healthy behavior in the context of romantic relationships, exploration of values, goal setting and assertiveness
Community Service Learning (CSL) • CSL=academic goals+ personal growth+ civic responsibility • Engages students directly in the issues and needs of their community • Community service/volunteering vs. CSL: the “learning” component
