  2. You shall call his name Jesus • Common Jewish name • Equates to the Hebrew, Joshua • Name describes His work, office, function

  3. He will save his people from their sins • From the guilt of sin But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. Romans 5:8-9

Hebrews 4:15-16

The name of jesus should be an encouragement • Because His work is to be SAVIOR • Because He sympathizes on a throne of mercy • Because he lives to intercede Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25

  10. They shall call his name immanuel • This name describes His nature • GOD IS WITH US • Speaks to His Deity

  16. What is the point of it all? • Want foundation for your hope, evidence for your faith… look to Immanuel • Want mercy, grace, comfort in trial and suffering… consider Jesus • HE is the point of it all!
