New Ministry of Labour Number for exclusive use for Police, Fire and EMS • What’s Happening? • In order to provide increased service and response time for our colleagues in Emergency Services, the Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety Contact Centre (Contact Centre) has obtained a new toll-free number for first responders to report workplace injuries, including but not limited to workplace fatalities and critical injuries. • The new number is 1-844-275-9033, and is for the exclusive use by Police Services, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services. • This new number will give the caller the highest priority when calling in to the Contact Centre, and will reduce wait times for our partners in the Emergency Services who are attending workplace incidents and are notifying the ministry.

Q & A’s • Question: Why have a separate number for Emergency Services? • Answer: Our partners in Emergency Services attend many severe workplace health and safety incidents, including fatalities and critical injuries of workers, and report these incidents to the Ministry of Labour’s Health and Safety Contact Centre (Contact Centre). • This new number will give the caller the highest priority when calling in to the Contact Centre to ensure information is taken received in an expedient and efficient manner. (examples An example would be whether the caller is include holding the scene for an inspector). • Question: What happens if I contact the normal 1-877-202-0008 number to report an incident? • Answer: The Contact Centre number 1-877-202-0008 still exists. If used by members of Emergency Services, the caller will be placed in the normal sequencing queues and the call will be answered in turn.
