  3. Student Morning Responsibilities 1. Unpack book bag 2. Check orange folder 3. Put snack in bin 4. Place agenda in cubby 5. Choose new homework book 6. Begin morning work

  4. Orange Folder Agenda Newsletter-(located on Blog) Blog Phone Call cell 770-597-4935 (Please be mindful of me and my family and call between 6:15am- 7:00 pm) Voice Mail Communication

  5. Agenda The agenda is a daily planner that is used for: • Weekly communication • Behavior management • Reading log for homework books *Please sign agenda daily

  6. Class Rules Feet, hands and other objects to ourselves. Respect others and their feelings. Only use your inside voice. Girls and boys use their walking feet. Sit correctly at all times.

  7. EVRC Books for Breakfast will be each 9 weeks. Don’t miss out! Reading • Guided Reading • EVRC • Literacy Centers • STAR Testing • D.E.A.R. Time

  8. Math • Math Standards/Picasso • Problem of the Day • Rap/Calendar Math Flashcards are a great way to practice Addition and subtraction facts at home.

  9. Writing What is Writer’s Workshop?

  10. Spelling • Sight Words • Spelling Center • Word Wall • Words Their Way • Weekly spelling test (Fridays)

  11. Handwriting In first grade, we practice traditional manuscript handwriting.

  12. Homework *Daily Reading:Monday through Thursday for approximately 15-20 minutes. Please record the title in the agenda under “Words of the Week”. Reading Homework will begin the week of Aug. 16th.

  13. Report Cards Keys to Academic Achievement Key to Learning Skills & Behaviors *Conferences will be held in October

  14. Report Cards and Conferences • Report cards issued every 9 weeks • Conferences will be held the week of October 18th.

  15. School Business • Dismissal changes should be sent in a note (please do not send via e-mail) • Money should be sent in an envelope labeled: Student Name Teacher / Grade Purpose

  16. Lunch Schedule 10:58 a.m.- 11:28 am Tables 10 & 11 Lunch $1.60 Milk $.50

  17. Reminders • One Healthy Snack • Birthdays • Birthdays will not be celebrated during instructional time. • Please feel free to join your child for lunch and distribute cookies or cupcakes. (10:58-11:28am) • Invitations may be passed out at school only if ALL children from our class are invited. • Teachers are not permitted to give out addresses or phone #’s. • Volunteers - We would love your help in the following Areas: • Sorting pages from our math and phonics books. • Room and Art Print Reps • Donations – Saltines, fat dry erase markers, and misc. treasure chest items. Please check back board for other items you can donate. 

  18. Early Release!!  • Cobb County has added two early release days to the school calendar. • On Wednesday, August 25, 2010 and Wednesday, February 2, 2011 all Cobb County students will be dismissed two hours early for district-wide teacher training. • We will dismiss at 12:30pm.
