TYPES OF MONSOON ALLERGIES AND PREVENTION CALENDAR September 28, 2022 admin Blog  September 2022 Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are progressive respiratory diseases that are commonly known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). During COPD, air?ow decreases over time, and the lining of the airways becomes in?amed. In some cases, asthma is mistaken for COPD, which is a separate respiratory disease. There are similarities between the two symptoms. Shortness of breath, wheezing, and chronic coughing are the symptoms. NISHTHA SINGH 26 27 28 29 30       « AUG COPD is associated with asthma. As you age, you are more likely to develop this dual diagnosis. To tell What are the Differences between Asthma and COPD? you must understand the following factors. ASTHMA AND COPD HAVE DIFFERENT CAUSES: Asthma An environmental factor and an inherited (genetic) factor might be responsible for causing it. Allergic reactions also start with exposure to certain substances (allergens). Individuals have different preferences. There are many triggers for asthma, including pollen, dust mites, mold, pet hair, respiratory infections, physical activity, cold air, smoke, beta-blockers, aspirin, stress, foods, and beverages containing sul?tes and preservatives, and gastroesophageal re?ux disease (GERD). COPD In the developed world, smoking is the leading cause of COPD. Cooking and heating fuel fumes in developing countries cause it. COPD develops in 20 to 30% of people who smoke regularly, according to the Mayo Clinic. As a result of smoking, the bronchial tubes and air sacs lose their natural elasticity and over-expand, which causes trapped air to enter the lungs when you exhale. DIFFERENT TRIGGERS The spectrums of triggers that cause COPD versus asthma reactions are also different. Asthma Asthma is usually made worse by exposure to the following: allergens cold air exercise COPD Infections of the respiratory tract, such as pneumonia and in?uenza, are the primary cause of COPD aggravations. Exposure to environmental pollutants can also

A common feature of asthma and COPD is airway hyperresponsiveness (when your airways are sensitive to what you inhale). The ?rst step in treating asthma is to recognize and avoid your asthma triggers. Among the most common asthma treatments are: An oral or intravenous corticosteroid for chronic asthma, also short-acting beta- agonists, and ipratropium (Atrovent). Xolair (omalizumab) and allergy shots (immunotherapy) are two types of allergy medications. Medications used to control asthma over an extended time, such as inhaled corticosteroids, leukotriene modi?ers, long-acting beta agonists, combination inhalers, and theophylline Thermoplasty of the bronchial tube COPD Like asthma, COPD is a long-term health condition, and treatment focuses on controlling symptoms to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. Therapy, hypnosis, and support groups are some methods for quitting smoking. The following treatments for COPD: Theophylline, phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitors, and bronchodilators are some of the medications available to manage asthma Various lung therapies, such as oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, can help you live a healthier and more ful?lling life. Surgical procedures such as lung volume reduction (removing damaged lungs to allow more space within the chest cavity for healthy lungs), lung transplant (replacing diseased and damaged lungs with healthy, donated lungs), or bullectomy (removal of abnormally large air spaces from the lungs to aid breathing) are among them. CONCLUSION COPD and asthma are both long-term conditions, but their outlooks are different. Typical asthma is easier to control. COPD, on the other hand, worsens over time. Childhood asthma may disappear in a time, while asthma and COPD tend to last a lifetime. When asthmatics and COPD patients follow the prescribed treatment plans, their symptoms may reduce, and complications may also avoid.
