PA Tourism is in the business of manufacturing experiences, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and helping to solidify PA’s position on the map of places to visit.

  • PA Tourism marketing is facing a brand crisis, increased competition and lack of funding
  • Despite these conditions, tourism industry sales rose almost 8.9% in 2011, down from 9.2% in 2010.
  • PA ranks 7th in nation - overnight leisure destinations
  • PA residents make up 40% of overnight travelers, add New York and New Jersey for a combined 70%.
  • PA is working toward integrating the private sector into the Commonwealth’s marketing efforts
  • A public/private partnership will strengthen, augment DCED Tourism promotion

How Is PTP Funded?
  • PTP exists within Team PA for up to 3 years
  • Funded with $150,000 from DCED, plus up to

$1 million in 1 - 1 matching funds

  • Work with PATT and the state toward long-term, sustainable funding

  • Long-range Strategic Plan (Q2, 2014)
