  1. The various skin problems plaguing Indians today Skin is our largest organ and is made up of water, fats, minerals, and protein. Our skin protects us, helps us breathe, regulates body temperature, and expels toxins through sweat. The skin also has nerve points that help us feel sensations like cold and heat. Our skin has many layers, with each layer responsible for a particular function, and the layers are made of tissues: the topmost layer, the epidermis, protects us; the dermis supports and strengthens the epidermis; and the third layer, the sub-cutis, supplies nutrients to the other two layers that insulate and cushion the body. Most skin problems beset the epidermis due to various reasons that can be either internal or external, like pollution, dust, or allergens in the air. Indians particularly suffer from certain skin issues due to the tropical and subtropical weather; add to this the increasing pollution and dust. It is always advisable to find a skin specialist in Ahmedabad or whichever city you stay in instead of trying to treat the problem yourself. Let us take a look at four skin diseases from a list of the most common skin problems plaguing Indians today.

  2. 1.Acne: This particular skin problem has assailed almost each one of us at some stage of life. Acne occurs when the skin pores become blocked with either oil, bacteria, or dead skin cells, and if not treated properly by a skin doctor nearby, the problem can reoccur, sometimes existing on the face or body for years. Try to find a dermatologist near where you stay for convenience and timely intervention when needed. The underlying catalyst for acne is the hyperactive sweat glands, which are the most active during puberty and adolescence. Apart from consulting a good skin doctor, you can also help yourself in simple ways: know your skin type and care for it accordingly; have a healthy, nutritious diet; exercise regularly and drink lots of water; wash your face regularly, particularly after coming back home; and apply moisturiser. 2.Psoriasis: Contrary to the belief that psoriasis is a skin disease, it is actually an immune-mediated disorder and does not occur due to mere external factors or factors related to the skin. Psoriasis occurs when rogue cells attack healthy cells, resulting in red, scaly, and patchy skin. This is a genetic hereditary disorder that gets triggered by environmental factors, so chances are that you may also get it if someone in your immediate family has it. Early detection of this disease makes all the difference in its cure, so it is important to get a check-up from a skin specialist in Ahmedabad as soon as you notice any unusual changes. People with psoriasis should avoid getting any tattoos or piercings and injuring their skin. 3.Eczema: One of the most common skin problems in Indians, eczema is an inflammatory skin disease in which the skin becomes dry, itchy, and develops rashes. People suffering from asthma or other allergies have higher chances of contracting this disease. In some cases, the eczema can also become wet and oozy. This is again a genetic disorder in which the hyperactivity of the immune system works to counter allergic reactions by causing inflammation. It can also get activated under stress, with certain foods and allergies related to soap or shampoo, and if you stay in cold areas. Find a good dermatologist by searching for a skin specialist near me, and you can also help soothe the inflammation by wearing loose cotton clothes during the summer and beneath warm clothes in the winter, taking short hot showers to clear the irritants, and avoiding food and things that trigger an allergic reaction. 4.Hives: Hives are perhaps one of the most mysterious and frustrating skin issues, as it is near impossible to know what causes them. The reason could be anything under the sun, including sunlight itself, insect bites, or chemicals in the food. Hives appear suddenly in the form of pale red

  3. bumps that are extremely itchy, and it is important to know their cause through clinical investigations like an allergy test, as advised by the skin doctor nearby. Hives are of various types and are caused by multiple reasons, like cancer, thyroid disease, hepatitis, excessive heat or cold, and at times merely by scratching an itchy skin.
