In parts of South Sudan, famine has already been declared, with 100,000 people targeted for immediate, life-saving aid. Continued violence in all four countries is compounding decades of under- investment in agriculture, leading to a potential catastrophe if humanitarian corridors are not opened up quickly, and aid is not increased rapidly, to prevent millions from dying of hunger. The UN has issued an urgent appeal for US$4.9 billion by July for life-saving assistance in the key areas of food security, health, nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene, but so far, only $1.9 billion has been received. Since 2010,Our ministry of service has supported and empowered Uganda’s most top extreme poor families and children neglected of their right to education, vulnerable groups, Poor people,400 Orphaned Children and Refugees , including Street kids, Seniors, people with disabilities in Uganda. 3

4. We educate Refugee children by providing not only education, , but also the vital support services they need to thrive (basic needs). We are one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of free education. For more than 5 years, Mother Care foundation (MCF) has responded to the nation's education and health care needs. Today, we are a major provider of free education and medication for children, seniors and others coping with illness or injury. We offer a continuum of services that extends to the children, elderly and disabled people requiring long-term education and health support, including, homing children at our orphanage school, mothering orphaned children as well visioning for future. In our changing and developing society, a number of Orphan, Semi Orphan and Street Children are found. The problem of orphan / street children is acute due to urbanization and industrialization. Due to the deaths of HIV/AIDS affected parents, Re-marriage of deserted / widowed / divorce women, absence of love and security in the families, Family disputes, Unwanted pregnancy of Trafficking / Sexually exploited girls; these orphan and street children are left without care and support. These children are involved in rag picking; pick pocketing and participating in anti-social, crime activities. Therefore we create awareness for the well development and provision of education to most of the Orphans and other helpless children per time we are able to provide, support and save the Children in Uganda. Our Mission: Our mission is to Provide Education ,Health Programs, child life planning that are taking into account Education, Homing every Child, Healthcare, Incredible skilling, future visioning and child rights protection. The Project – An Overview: In spite of planned development and special provision for accelerated social-economic development of neglected/disadvantaged sections, the issue of orphans, semi orphans and street children is not properly addressed. As our mission of Providing Education, Skills Programs, child life planning that are taking into account education, Homing every Child, Healthcare, Incredible skilling, future visioning and child 4

We do offer these services through several measure and which are under these provisions to all the helpless children we do support under Mother Care Foundation (MCF) • Formal Education. • Dual Education. • Skills education • Parental empowerment We also detailed keep focusing on; 1. Providing formal and dual education primary, secondary school to university. 2. Identify children denied of their education and health rights. 3. Enroll children in government and private schools. 4. Providing basic needs and home for every child. 5. Providing scholastic materials to neglected children. 6. Parental counseling, guiding and parent empowerment. 7. Developing, promote, sustainable skills and transform children who can adjust and deal with the newly developments in this ever evolving world. 8. Acquire sponsors for these children. 9. Prevention of child abuse and neglect. 10. Incredible skilling and talents development (teach a child to fish). 11. Child protection and advocacy. The project proposed in this scheme is meant for additional support to run the orphan children home through focusing on education, food and basic necessities, health services and other needed or urgent services for these kids. PROJECT SUMMARY Mother Care foundation (MCF) aims to Provide Education ,Health Programs, child life planning that are taking into account of Education, Homing every Child, Healthcare, Incredible skilling, future visioning, child rights protection and parental empowerment. MAIN KEY POINTS: PARENTAL EMPOWERMENT: Parents are skilled as well educated on how to start businesses (start small grow big), as well starting capital, In turn this solve the General country problem of Unemployment, and improves family status of living. EDUCATION: We do provide school necessities to all children catered for under the project and also create awareness towards the heartfelt people who usually donate towards the education services of these kids. HOMING EVERY CHILD: We do provide necessary homing materials like orphans home to keep them safe and also provide them with attributes to keep them moving in the general life as other children in the whole world. HEALTHCARE: Health services are provided to all the kids were necessary and health tips to these kids are the daily routine for the teachers and volunteers towards these children every day. We do also provide monthly Medical checkups to all the children in the project. 5

INCREDIBLE SKILLING: We do provide sustainable skills to children, Skills ease the start up for future ,so this is done to as way of preparing for future as well visioning for the children to the work nature when still younger hence ease in Future. PROJECT OBJECTIVES: · To provide orphan / semi orphan / street children, a childhood that they never experienced and help them to become useful members of the society. · To encourage orphan / semi orphan / street children to kindle their potential by providing creative opportunities · To build up secure place where orphan / semi orphan / street children can play and enjoy their childhood. · To provide basic education to orphan / semi orphan / street children. · To provide such welfare services like free lodging, boarding, health and recreation · To provide basic literacy and facilities for those who wish to study further · To select and prepare for a vocation in order to live on their own legs · To accomplishing physical, intellectual and aesthetic development of the child Project Activities: · Identification of orphan / semi orphan / street children · Pre-view of the incoming orphan / semi orphan / street children problem/difficulties · Emotional acceptance of the child · Teaching facilities for basic education · Teaching facilities for vocational courses and crafts. · Lodging and boarding facilities for all inmates. · Recreational facilities. Through providing these needs to the society, we have setup different measures to help us out on the achieving the organizational goals and objectives and these are as follows: We have been identifying orphan / semi orphan / street children through our volunteers, citizens, police, women & child welfare department. We Pre-view of the incoming orphan / semi orphan / street child problems/difficulties. We counsel and arrange for Emotional acceptance of the orphan / semi orphan / street child. We provide Lodging and boarding facilities for all inmates at a rented building in Nansana Municipality. EDUCATION: We have constructed two primary schools and one secondary high school that do provide services to all of these kids. These schools have been in service for quite not a long time they do provide capable and available services to all children. 1. NANSANA COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL which is being constructed on a rented land due to high levels of service providing in Nansana region. It is accommodating around 150-200 children at a primary level. 2. EXTREME HIGH SCHOOL which also constructed for the children at a secondary level were by it accommodated around 150 children being catered for their. 3. SILIMULA COMMUNITY PRIMARY which also accommodates for around 100 primary children that are still at a primary level. This school is constructed in Kiboga district which is in a rural area to help out on those children. 6

We have been running these Orphanage schools with local and international donations and contributions and also with the hands on tools projects setup to skill these kids which raise some little money for there benefits. We have limited resources to take care of the increasing orphan / semi orphan / street children that are increasing due to various reasons. We need additional support from the donors and philanthropists to meet the needs of increasing orphan / semi orphan / street children in our centers. We seek support for acquiring the land in Nansana region to avoid renting expenses as it is one of our best service providing schools in Nansana. Meanwhile, we will sustain to mobilize continuous local and international donations through exhibiting our good work and service to different people who would love to involve with us to do this charitable work. The project covers over 450+ orphans. Every child will be provided with nutritional diet, indoor and out-door recreation and play facilities and training in crafts and hobbies together with best education services with our schools to enable and create a brighter future for these kids as well. Impact analysis: The project will be monitored at regular intervals through a “Project Advisory Committee (PAC)” constituted with the President of the organization as convener/member secretary. Authorities from the Funding Agency, Local District, Administration etc., will be nominated as members to the project advisory committee. This committee would meet periodically once in 3 months and advise on various aspects concerning implementation of project and review of the programs/activities undertaken. The Project Advisory Committee will also review the accounts and audited statements. O’Neill Institute for National & Global Health Law/ScienceDaily Related: Hepatitis C antiviral drugs are effective – The Guardian (Commentary) CHOLERA Targeted Campaign A flexible approach to vaccinating high-risk populations and those who live near cholera cases is feasible during an urban outbreak, according to a new study of the June 2015 epidemic in Juba, South Sudan. There, public health officials and researchers used a single-dose oral cholera vaccine regime for the first time because of limited supply. High-risk neighborhoods and persons over 12 months old were prioritized for OCV. Spatial sampling techniques estimated vaccine coverage for 162,377 individuals in the targeted areas. More work is needed to evaluate how and when implementing different regime strategies is necessary, the researchers say. PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases DIAGNOSTICS WHO’s New Essentials List The WHO is creating an Essential Diagnostics List that would function much like its well- recognized Essential Medicines List. The list will deliver evidence-based guidance to countries so they can create their own lists of essential diagnostic tests and tools, according to WHO. Initially, the list will likely focus in vitro diagnostics for TB, malaria, HIV and hepatitis B and C, the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society notes. The list will be expanded to antimicrobials and noncommunicable diseases. The WHO is creating a group of experts to advise on policies. The Global Health Technologies Coalition welcomed what it called "a landmark decision." HEALTH SYSTEMS Health for All Measuring people’s access to health care leaves unanswered the question of whether their care is effective, write the authors of a WHO Bulletin editorial. “[Q]uality of care should be integrated into existing policy dialogues,” according to the authors from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and elsewhere. “National quality policies and strategies need to reflect the trade-offs between the ability to measure, and the ability to 24

25. deliver, higher-quality health services.” The 2018 World Health Assembly will feature proposals for global health-quality indicators and ways of measuring them. WHO Bulletin Related: Records of medical malpractice litigation: a potential indicator of health-care quality in China – WHO Bulletin CLIMATE CHANGE Heat, Here and Now 1 in 3 people already face deadly heatwaves, and that number will rise to 1 in 2 by the end of the century, according to a new Nature Climate Change study. Study authors emphasize that climate change is happening now and will only get worse. In Bhubaneswar, India, for example, doctors report increasing numbers of patients—especially those 50 to 70 years old—presenting with heat exhaustion. The Quote: "We are running out of good choices for the future. For heatwaves, our options are now between bad or terrible," said the University of Hawaii’s Camilo Mora, lead author of the study. Thomson Reuters Foundation CANCER Overcrowded Cells When a tumor’s cells become too crowded, it signals them to begin spreading throughout the body, according to groundbreaking research published in Nature Communications. Researchers at Johns Hopkins University observed cancer cell interactions using a 3-D human tissue model, rather than cells in a petri dish. At a certain density, they found, tumors released two proteins to tell cells to metastasize. Previously, scientists thought tumor growth and cancer spread happened separately. The researchers then tested on mice a cocktail of 2 drugs known to block the proteins, successfully slowing metastasis. Their discovery has yet to be tested in humans. The Baltimore Sun MISQUITO-BORNE DISEASES Triple Play The primary mosquito vector of the Zika virus may also transmit chikungunya and dengue in a single bite, says a new Colorado State University study. 25

26. To observe transmission patterns, researchers infected mosquitos with multiple viruses. While transmission of all 3 was rare, dual infections were more common than scientists expected. Researchers are unsure how being “coinfected” by multiple viruses at the same time affects the severity and complications of infections in humans. Now, the Colorado State University team is studying how coinfection affects virus evolution and whether yellow fever could “coinfect” with the other 3 diseases. Colorado State University Related: Mosquitoes that spread Zika virus could simultaneously transmit other viruses – Environmental News Network NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASES National Emergency Mexico declared diabetes a national health emergency last year, with 13 million adults affected. But the country’s fractured health care system hinders the response to the complex problem, some experts say. Only about half of Mexicans with diabetes have a diagnosis, and providers are not well equipped to help patients manage the chronic disease. Meanwhile, Mexicans are burdened with out-of- pocket health care costs, and some don’t get care because they don’t know they’re covered by health insurance. Health officials hope a 2-year-old nationwide tracking system will help them pinpoint areas of diabetes care that need improvement and then take action. WHO Bulletin SEXUAL VIOLENCE A Painful Homecoming For some former girl soldiers in the DRC, the pain of transitioning back to their former lives sends them back to the armed groups, where sexual violence against girls is routine. What the Girls Say, a new Child Soldiers International publication, reports that the girls, many of whom are sexual abuse survivors, are often rejected and stigmatized by their family and community. Says Sandra Olsson, Child Soldiers International program manager: “Social exclusion and stigmatization is far more prevalent among girls. The Florence Statement on Triclosan and Triclocarban, published in Environmental Health Perspectives, notes evidence of the damage that triclosan and triclocarban cause to aquatic life and concerns about their effects on human hormone cycles and their possible contributions to antimicrobial resistance. Trade groups say their products are safe and effective, refuting any connection to bacterial resistance. Washington Post EBOLA Tangled Web As the 2014 Ebola epidemic swept through West Africa, a Chinese military academy announced it had developed a drug for treating the disease. Now, a Chinese pharmaceutical company is looking to make jk-05 commercially available. But could it be a copy of Japan’s favipiravir, whose clinical trials have been inconclusive? Global health expert Yanzhong Huang attempts to unravel the tangled web of China’s forays into health security and drug development. Because jk-05 and another anti-Ebola drug developed in China, MIL-77, had their genesis in research conducted elsewhere, “China’s ability to offer original, innovative solutions remains in question,” Huang writes. Council on Foreign Relations WHO Postscript As departing WHO Director-General Margaret Chan passes the torch to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, she writes about her disappointments and successes at WHO. Here’s a taste: “ … I engaged (usually with passion and sometimes with tears) in the debates among WHO governing bodies, especially when views were polarized and I could propose a path toward compromise. To my delight, this “butting in” was welcomed and gave rise to the so-called spirit of Geneva — a willingness to soften views and rigid positions in the interest of reaching consensus.” A must-read for WHO watchers. 27

28. STAT (Commentary) Related: Global Health NOW at the World Health Assembly 2017 – Global Health NOW SUBSTANCE ABUSE Addicted in Afghanistan Opium production is exploding in Afghanistan. So, too, is drug addiction among women. Pamela Constable paints a harrowing portrait of female drug addiction at a recently opened center in in Kabul. The center offers detox and therapy to the women, as well as classes for children who, in some cases, are also addicted. The story captures the pain of a teen girl who brings her mother to the center for treatment, telling the staff: “‘She is our mother, but she has ruined our family … I want her to be healthy, not crazy.’” The Washington Post DATA Future Forward Can scientific and medical collaborations succeed where political negotiations have failed? Some South Korean researchers believe so. In a cohort study called NORNS, the researchers are measuring the physical and mental health of more than 1,100 North Korean refugees and following them over time as they integrate into South Korean society. Defectors suffer from a range of health effects, such as metabolic disorders and reproductive health issues. Tracking how their health changes the longer they are away from North Korea could lay the groundwork for a health care system in a future reunified Korea, some believe. Undark REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH Outsourcing Tech Toxins Groundbreaking epidemiological studies led US tech companies to stop using toxic chemicals that caused miscarriages and birth defects 25 years ago. But they did not ask the same of their Asian suppliers. Now confidential data reveal that thousands of pregnant Asian women continue to face potential exposure, according to Bloomberg Business week. South Korean epidemiologist Kim Myoung-hee began uncovering the scandal after noticing a series of cancer cases in her country’s microelectronics plants. Her research has shown elevated risks of miscarriage for South Korean workers. Others determined through random testing that manufacturers were using more toxic chemicals than they had claimed. 29. US Demurs on UN Resolution A Canada-led UN resolution calling for an end to violence against women was adopted by consensus on Thursday. But the US has rejected it because it advocates access to safe abortion in countries where the procedure is legal. In distancing the US from the consensus, First Secretary to the UN Jason Mack said, “We do not recognize abortion as a method of family planning, nor do we support abortion in our reproductive health assistance.” President Trump recently reinstated and expanded the “gag rule” barring international groups that perform abortions or provide information about it from getting US development funding. Reuters LEADERSHIP Wonder Women This fall, Stanford Medicine will launch its Women Leaders in Global Health conference to nurture women at all stages of their global health careers. Michele Barry, director of Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health, created the event after attending a Nairobi health conference panel that featured not a single woman. “I hope to inspire women to think leadership can be on top of their list and they can still do all the other things that are important,” Barry says. “I managed to raise two wonderful daughters while dragging them all over the world doing global health.” Scope Blog (Stanford Medicine) MEDICAL HISTORY Lifesavers, Underappreciated “What is the most underappreciated medical invention in history?” The Atlantic recently polled a diverse group of doctors, inventors, TV personalities and authors. Answers ran the gamut, from stethoscopes to AEDs with some unexpected medical game- changers such as Botox and placebos. This mélange of inventions also gave dues to often unsung public health innovations like antisepsis and mosquito-blocking bed nets. Researchers studied 586 viruses infecting 754 mammal species. Based on their findings, the team created “danger maps” to chart where the world’s next major epidemic would likely come from. South America, they say, is the largest hotbed of potential viruses. The researchers say the maps could help health officials decide how best to prioritize research and virus surveillance. BBC SANITATION Waterless Loo Loowatt, a London startup, is piloting a low-cost, waterless toilet in Antananarivo, Madagascar, seeking to solve a sanitation challenge in parts of the world where flushing toilet systems aren’t feasible. Using a biodegradable white film that encases excrement upon flushing, the Loowatt toilet collects waste in a receptacle. Once the container is full, service teams transport the waste to Loowatt’s processing facility to be made into biogas and fertilizer. Setup is free with a £3 per month service fee and £12 deposit. Loowatt hopes to be the city’s main sanitation provider within 5 to 10 years. Mosaic 30

HEALTH DISPARITIES No Advantage A version of Medicare—the US government health insurance program for older Americans, provided by private health insurers—increased already high readmission rates among black patients in New York, according to a new Health Affairs study. Using a state patient database, researchers found black Medicare Advantage patients were 64% more likely than white patients to be readmitted to the hospital within 30 daysafter surgery. Black patients with traditional Medicare were 33% more likely to be readmitted than white patents. The study’s approximately 20,000 patients had undergone 1 of 6 major surgeries, including pulmonary lobectomy, colectomy and hip replacement.
