  1. Infection, and Rhino- Orbito- Cerebral Mucormycosis

  2. ADVICE TO PATIENTS • What Are The Alert Symptoms To Watch Out For? • RhinocerebralMucormycosis infection usually begins in • the nose and can spread to the eye and brain. • Sinuses and nose Infection of Mucor (relatively early disease)

  3. Early Diagnosis At This Point Allows For Early Care Which Reduces Risks. • Headache and nasal congestion- particularly if chronic or serious and not responsive to pain relievers. • Nasal crusting with blood-tinged nasal discharge • Face pain or numbness • Discoloration of the skin on the face / localized facial puffiness • Loosening of teeth/discoloration or ulceration of the palate • Mucorinflammation of the eye / orbital mucor (moderately advanced disease).

  4. DO’S & DONT’S FOR PATIENTS •  Inform the doctor about the diabetic history • Check your blood sugar levels. • Be on the lookout for the above-mentioned early symptoms of Mucor. • Keep general sanitation and cleanliness in mind. • Follow medical advice; complete the whole course of therapy as prescribed by the doctor. • Self-medicate, particularly with steroids • Mucorsigns should be reported as soon as possible. • Disregard expert advice

  5. WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS? • Consult the doctor as soon as possible. •  If necessary, the doctor will take swabs from the nose and screen them for fungi. • If the infection is highly suspected or proven, you can need antifungal medicine and surgery.

  6. WHAT EXACTLY IS MUCORMYCOSIS? WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR CONCERN? • Mucoris a fungus that is naturally found in the atmosphere and soil. It only induces illness when immunity is severely depleted. • Mucormycosisis a condition that has been around for a long time. It has been observed in people with low immunity, such as those with unregulated asthma, post-transplant, and some cancer therapies. • A sudden increase in Mucormycosis cases with COVID-19 has been recorded. • It is an uncommon but serious Covid-19 complication. Mucormycosis infection can result in vision loss and is potentially fatal. • Mucorinfection may occur concurrently with Covid-19 infection or a few weeks after Covid-19 recovery.

  7. WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS MUCOR SURGE? • COVID-19 has the potential to exacerbate diabetes and also induce diabetes in otherwise healthy people. • The infection with Covid 19 triggers a decline in certain forms of white blood cells as well as a decrease in immunity. • Any medications, such as steroids and tocilizumab, used to treat Covid-19 infection can exacerbate immune status. • The magnitude of Mucor infection is primarily determined by the patient's immunity and overall health. When Covid – 19 inflammation, elevated blood sugar levels, and immunosuppressive medications are all present, the chance of infection rises.
