  2. 报告内容: High penetration levels of variable resources such as wind and solar power introduce significant uncertainty and variability into the power system, creating high and unpredictable ramps in net load. Such ramps present a great challenge for system operators who must maintain reliable operation and efficient markets with simultaneous maximum utilization of renewable energy. Incentivizing investment and market participation in providing flexibility by diverse resources on the supply and demand side requires new dispatch mechanisms and operating procedures. In this talk a novel metric (Lack of Ramp Probability) for evaluating system-wide flexibility is proposed. Further a robust dispatch model is proposed, which provides guaranteed performance for this flexibility metric. This robust optimization-based economic dispatch model is compared with existing and industry proposed approaches through numerical case studies.

  3. 报告人简介: • Le Xie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, where he is affiliated with the Electric Power and Power Electronics Group. His research interest includes modeling and control of large-scale complex systems, smart grid applications in support of variable energy integration, and electricity markets. • Dr. Xie received U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Department of Energy Oak Ridge Associated Universities Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards, and Texas A&M Engineering Select Young Faculty Award. He is an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, and the founding chair of IEEE Power and Energy Society Task Force on Big Data Analytics for Grid Operations.
