  2. Birth 4 „Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. ”1

  3. Family “Her mother was Edith Frank. And her father, Otto Frank, was a lieutenant in the German Army during World War I who later became a businessman in Germany and the Netherlands. Frank also had a sister named Margot.”1 3

  4. Hitler “In 1933, Hitler takes over as leader of the German government. Otto and Edith Frank are deeply worried and look for a means of escape.”5 6

  5. The Call 7 “In 1940, Margot is called up to be sent to a German labour camp, Otto and Edith decide the dangers have become too great. They take their family into hiding.”7

  6. In Hiding 9 “A lot of people had helped Jewish folk that were in hiding. MeipGies, a secretary at Otto Frank's company was one of the important helpers to the Van Daans and the Frank family.”9

  7. Transit Camp 11 “On 4 August 1944, everyone in the Secret Annex is arrested. Someone has betrayed them. They are deported first to the Westerbork transit camp, and then on to Auschwitz.”12

  8. Her Diary “On Anne Frank's thirteenth birthday she received a diary, she named it "Kitty". Her father Otto kept her diary and two years after she died, in 1947, her father published it unchanged. In 1959, a movie was filmed about her diary. She is remembered most for her diary that has been published in over 30 languages. Many children all over America read the "Diary of Anne Frank" in school.”10 13

  9. Death “By the end of October Anne and her sister Margot are transferred to another camp, Bergen-Belsen. They both become ill there and died of typhus in March of 1945. They died just a few weeks before the British Army arrived and freed the prisoners. “14 14
