  1. Why Essential Oils? An essential oil is an extract from a plant or a natural plant by product containing a volatile organic compound that is similar to the chemical makeup of a plant. Essential oils have also been called volatile oils, aethrole, ethereal oils or simply the oil from the plant where it was extracted, like oil of lavender. These extracts have different properties in them and their exact composition depends on where the plant came from, and how it was harvested and processed. There are two basic classes of essential oils: Aromatic and Flavonoid. The most popular ones in the world are: Lavender, Tea Tree Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Citronella Oil. The aromatic class consists of substances that smell like their natural counterparts: flowers, pine cones, balsam fir etc. The Flavonoid class contains those that taste as if their natural counterparts - such as orange peel, lemon peel, grapefruit, apricot, and peppermint - do. The aromatic class is extracted from the plant's roots or stems, while the flavonoid class is extracted from the leaves or flowers. Most of these oils come from plants in the Araceae (or botanical family) or the Melanomataceae (or plant family). However, there are many non-aromatic plant products available in the market, too, but their composition is very different than the ones extracted from the plant's parts.

  2. The most common and effective way to prepare an essential oil for aromatherapy purposes is to pour the oil from the plant on a cloth soaked in a carrier oil. The carrier oil serves as a carrier to protect the essential oil from light, air, and other unwanted ingredients. When you are ready to apply the oil to your skin, add a few drops to a small amount of water and dab it gently on to your skin. It should not be too much, as too much will cause skin irritation. Leave the oil on your skin for a few minutes before washing away with a warm towel. In some cases, essential oils may need to be diluted before using them in aromatherapy, especially if they are a little stronger than they look or smell. It is also good to dilute the essential oils in olive or coconut oil, so you can massage the oil onto your skin without causing any harm to it. If the essential oils are used undiluted, they are unlikely to produce therapeutic benefits. Essential oils can be prepared and sold as oils as well, in bottles or capsules. Although not commercially available, essential oils can also be purchased online and from online shops. In this case, they may not have the quality and purity as what they have been refined and distilled from. It is best to purchase these oils directly from the source. If you want to use essential oils on your skin for cosmetic or medicinal purposes, you should make sure to use pure and organic essential oils. This is because many products containing chemicals can actually do more harm than good and can cause allergic reactions in your skin. It is important to use only natural products, as you never know what kind of reactions you may get and how they will affect your body. To avoid problems, you should always read the labels of any cosmetic or medication products that contain essential oils on the label carefully and follow any instructions that are given. Always consult a medical expert on any possible allergic reactions that you may have to the oil you are using. As with anything else, the safest way to use essential oils is to dilute them first. For example, you should not be using a drop of essential oil and then applying it directly on your skin; you must use a carrier oil first before adding it to your skin. This allows the oil to settle in your skin and is less likely to cause any adverse effects. You should also avoid adding any kind of oil to the skin unless you have been instructed to do so by the company you are buying the product from.

  3. One way to dilute your essential oil is to put a drop or two on a cotton ball, rub it gently onto your face and leave it there. Do not rinse it off or use water, since this might dry out your skin and make it worse. This is a simple way of diluting the oil and allowing it to work its way through your skin. In addition, you should always dilute the essential oils you use on your skin before applying them to your skin. Make sure you only use pure and organic essential oils to avoid allergic reactions or skin irritations, because they are better for your health and will be safer for you.
