EXISTING INITIATIVES ON ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT IN ZARAGOZA Energy SustainableBuilding * RENEWABLE ENERGY : 750 MW installed in the city (489 MW in 2002) * MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS: 2.1 MW of installed photo-voltaic power (installations developed in 80 municipal buildings more-2MW) * RENAISSANCE PROJECT; Actions in 916 dwellings * VALDESPARTERA ECOCITY: 9300 social dwellings, 600 monitored * REHABILITED: 41.000 dwellings over the last 40 years * MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS: Energy efficiency in over 100 Quality & WaterConsumption Waste * SELECTIVE WASTE COLLECTION: Paper-cardboard, Glass, Light containers, Batteries, Vegetable oil, Clothing * 52% WASTE RECOVERED * CTRUZ: Zaragoza Centre for the Treatment of Urban Waste * REDUCTION OF WATER CONSUMPTION per person/day (24% from 2000-2010) * REDUCTION of annual breaks (0.71 km/year to 0.31 km/year) * BY-LAW on Saving and a Efficient Use of Water Urban Green Areas Green Employment & Economy * 96.68% OF THE PEOPLE of Zaragoza live less than 300 metres away from a green area. * CONNECTION & INTEGRATION of City-Natural Areas * GREEN JOBS: Circa 12,000 in Zaragoza (mainly RES) * CLUSTERS linked to eco-innovation * REGIONS OF KNOWLEDGE Water Efficiency in Urban Areas * EXCELENCE : EIP Smart Cities and Communities and EERA Biodiversity Environmental Management * LOCAL AGENDA 21, Implementation sice 2004 through 7 comissions: Noise, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Waste, Water, Environmental Taxes, and Municipal By-Laws. * 38% OFFICIAL PROTECTION of the municipal area (LIC, ZEPA and General Plan of Urban Planning).
