Coding the Questionnaires • Before starting the interview enter the respondent number and location code on top of the boxes provided in the questionnaire. • Put the serial number of the interview on top left of the questionnaire in sequence of the interviews done. • Please record the time taken for completing each interview, which is to be noted at top of the questionnaire after its completion.

  4. Coding the Questionnaires • Always use a ball pen to encircle the answer variable in the questionnaire. • The answer given by the respondent has to be recorded by encircling the appropriate answer category in the questionnaire. • You must read the codebook and familiarize yourself with it before the fieldwork. If the question has 2-box code, and if 1 has to be entered, then enter 01.

  5. Coding the Questionnaires • Coding of the questionnaire to be done after completing the interview. Consult codebook for coding questions wherever mentioned. • Open-ended questions are to be coded only after consulting the codebook. • In case of any problem in coding, clarify with the supervisor or the coordinator for solutions.
