  1. TECHNICAL ENGLISH READING COURSE The course will be taught at a B2/B2+ level according to the Common European Framework.

  2. B2/B2+ • Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

  3. Aims • By the end of the course, students are expected to be able to demonstrate the ability to learn and master general technical vocabulary and the ability to read quickly and effectively.

  4. Content • Vocabulary exercises, skimming, scanning and affixes, reading comprehension exercises, individual, pair or group work. • The language of instruction: English.

  5. Modes of Study • 28 hours of contact or online lessons, with 24 hours required for homework and self-study. • 50% attendance and active participation are required. • Marks are based on a reading comprehension test (duration 90 minutes).

  6. Evaluation • Pass/Fail. Students are expected to attend classes regularly, take an active part in classes and complete all assignments. • All assignments must be completed to be eligible to sit the exam.

  7. Study materials • Provided by the teacher. Blackboard.

  8. Prerequisites • Students with a matriculation exam grade of A, B, C or a short course in English may enroll for the course. Students who have taken FV11A2600 Business English Reading Course are not eligible for this course.
