HOW DID WISCONSIN GET INVOVLED? U.S. Department of Education Office of Vocational and Adult Education sent a RFP announcement. • Great opportunity to expand Wisconsin’s work in the area of programs of study • Announcement of the award was in October, 2010 • $258,400/year up to a maximum of four years
WHY MANUFACTURING • Wisconsin is home to over 9,000 manufactures • Manufacturing accounts for $47 billion to our state’s economy • The manufacturing industry ranks #2 in Wisconsin gross state product • The manufacturing industry employs 448,000 workers • Six states in total were awarded RPOS grants Arizona – Education Kansas – STEM Maryland – Automotive Montana – Construction Utah – Health Science Wisconsin - Manufacturing
