  2. Red Jacket ISOTROL Introduction • Specifications: • One Isotrol required per fuel grade. One box handles up to 8 dispensers (minimum) • NEMA Type 1 enclosure: 6-inch x 6-inch x 4-inch (standard petroleum control box) • Dispenser inputs:30mA at 120 or 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz • ATG Output: 750mA at 120 or 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (triac UL rated 750mA, fuse 1A) • Motor Relay: 30A DPST 120 or 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (2 HP, -047 and -048 models) • Terminals: • Rated: 250 VAC, 2 HP • Hook signal wire size: 14 - 28 AWG • Load wire size: 10-18 AWG The following paragraph has been added to the NFPA 70, 1999 National Electrical Code. 514-6. Provisions for Maintenance and Service of Dispensing Equipment. Each dispensing device shall be provided with a means to remove all external voltage sources, including feedback, during periods of maintenance and service of the dispensing equipment.

Use with Standard, IQ, or BigFlo Control Box • Isotrol 1-8R : (880-047-1) 120 VAC hook signal, 8 input isolation with 30-amp, 2HP motor relay (UL listed) • Isotrol 1-8R-i: (880-048-1) 240 VAC hook signal, 8 input isolation with 30-amp, 2 HP motor relay • Note: • “I” designates 240 V. dispenser signal • “R” designates with relay

Red Jacket ISOTROL Design and Performance • Performance & Design Features: • Isolates and protects individual dispensers from wiring shorts or phasing issues. • Isolates and protects technicians from dangerous feedback during service. • Optically isolated hook signals from 8 dispensers. (Can accept L1,L2,L3) • Compatible with any submersible pump relay box. • Dedicated ATG (Automatic Tank Gauge) output and coil terminals. (ATG,S) • Compatible with Red Jacket Standard, BigFlo, or IQ Control Box. • Offered as a Stand-alone with a 30-amp motor relay • Easily retrofitted to existing locations • Complaint with NEC requirements for handle isolation

Red Jacket ISOTROL 1-8 Benefits • Benefits: • Prevents damage to dispenser relay boards caused by cross-phasing • Meets 1999 NEC standard 514-6 eliminating electrical feedback between dispensers through the hook signal circuits. Provides a safe maintenance and service environment for the technician. • Retrofittable in existing Red Jacket control boxes • Provided with or without motor relay • OSHA Regulations, Lockout Tag-out and Safety procedures are simplified. • Lower on site maintenance costs. Since one dispenser can be safely serviced while the others are being used, shutting down an entire site is eliminated. • Dedicated ATG (Automatic Tank Gauge) line leak output and coil terminals. • Fused ATG terminals.

  7. Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring Diagram Overview • This device is not compatible with the Red Jacket 230 v Coil Control Box (880-042-5). Consider replacing 880-042-5 in an existing location with ISOTROL 1-8-i that has the on board relay. • Compatibility of this device with 115 V. Coil Control Box Models 880-041-5, 880-045-5, and 880-046-5 assumes that they have been installed and wired according to their diagrams.

  8. Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring Diagram General Details • DANGER: Always lock or tag out the supply power before attempting to connect to the dispenser isolation control box. Use a voltmeter to verify the presence of voltages. • Warning: Follow the guidelines stated in NFPA 30, 30A and 70 from the National Electric Code to safeguard the installation and operation of this equipment as well • Wiring must be rated 90 deg.C (194 deg. F) Minimum • Make ground connections to ground lug on chassis according to local codes. • Neon Indicator light onside shows lights when the control is activated. Install so it may be viewed (Indicator is control box power not pilot) • WARNING: This equipment must be installed in a non-hazardous location. When utilizing an existing mounted and installed Red Jacket Relay Box as a housing for the ISOTROL, the cover must be replaced with the ISOTROL box cover

Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring Diagram Details • DANGER: The neutral connection to the N terminal of TB1 and N terminal of TB2 must be from the service panel and be a permanently connected, unswitched connection (“ a hard neutral”) (differs from standard CB) • N connection on TB1 and the eight N connections on TB2 may be spliced to a common neutral wire from the service panel described above. • Make only one “wire” connection on each N terminal (splice in trough) • Caution: Phase on L1 must be same as device connected to ATG terminal. DANGER: This device is intended to provide electrical isolation between the dispenser pump enable (Hook) signal and the submersible turbine pump control relay. Other energized sources of power can still exist within the dispenser even with this device

  10. Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring Diagram Details • TB2 is dispenser input/ neutral termination board. TB1 is the Pump power/ output signal terminal board. • A connection to the L2 terminal is only necessary on units that have relay driving the pumps internally. (-047, -048) • Jumper ATG terminal to S terminal to control relay directly, Use #18 AWG wire minimum. • ATG termination may be run to S2 terminal of a Red Jacket control box with a 115 V. coil. • NOTICE: The phase of L1 (TB1) must match the phase of the power supplying the ATG device in order to prevent cross phasing which may damage the input on some ATG equipment. (similar to pump control card) • Wire sizes: • TB1 will accept #10-18 AWG wires • TB2 will accept #14-28 AWG wires • Use # 18 AWG minimum wire to Jump S to ATG on TB1

Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring Diagram Details • For installations without external control connections a short jumper wire (minimum 18 AWG) must be placed between ATG and S terminals of TB1 so that the dispenser isolation circuit can energize the relay on circuit board. • The coil rating of the relay is 4 VA at 120V or 240V • Control boxes with relays installed have contacts rated DPST 30A, 240V, 50/60 Hz. • When power is applied verify all dispenser switch signals do activate the pump • Walk through all inputs to verify operation

Red Jacket ISOTROL Wiring DiagramWhen used with Red Jacket Control Box • Utilize the 115 V. output from the automatic tank gauge terminal (ATG) • Connect to the “S2” dispenser switch signal terminal of the Red Jacket Control box • The ATG output is rated 750mA at 250V and fuse protected for these applications. (Use 880-049 and 880-050)

Red Jacket Multiple ISOTROL Wiring Diagram For Sites With More Than 8 Dispenser Inputs • Parallel Power and Output Connections • Run common 120V “hot” lead to each “L1” terminal in the ISOTROLS. • Run common neutral to each “N” terminal in the ISOTROLS. • Connect all the “ATG” terminal connections together and route to “S” terminal of a Red Jacket Pump Control box or another “S” terminal of an ISOTROL with a relay (i model)

  17. Red Jacket ISOTROL Troubleshooting WARNING: At any time the enclosure must be opened during a troubleshooting procedure, disconnect controller power prior to removal of the cover. This includes the dispenser signal outputs that are powered from separate circuits in the system.

ISOTROL Test Points-TP1 and TP2 TP1 (-vdc) TP2 (+vdc) • If any input(s) are hot, and the output is energized the voltage at test points TP1/TP2 is less than or equal to 0.25 vdc. • If inputs are off and outputs are de-energized then the voltage at TP1/TP2 is greater than or equal to 4.75 vdc.
