  1. CSEM Inreach: Enhancing Engagement Among CSEM Students and Postdoctoral Scholars David A. Tirrell, California Institute of Technology DMR 0520565 In an effort to provide opportunities that enhance the exchange of ideas, foster collaborative efforts, and a chance to network, CSEM has implemented two community engagement (“inreach”) programs. The Materials Research Lectures, conducted for several years, are now co-hosted by CSEM. These lectures are designed to introduce advanced Caltech undergraduates and graduate students to modern research in materials science, engineering, and related fields. The CSEM Research Luncheon Series, implemented in December 2009 provides an informal setting for researchers (graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and faculty) across the CSEM community to share research. In Period 6, twelve students and postdoctoral scholars from seven CSEM research groups gave presentations for the CSEM Research Luncheon Series.
