  2. Once I was seven years old my mama told me

  3. Go make yourself some friends or you’ll be lonely

  4. Once I was seven years old

  5. It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger

  6. Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker.

  7. By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor

  8. Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure

  9. Once I was eleven years old my daddy told me

  10. Go get yourself a wife or you’ll be lonely

  11. Once I was eleven years old

  12. I always had that dream like my daddy before me

  13. So I started writing songs, I started writing stories

  14. Something about the glory just always seemed to bore me

  15. Cause only those I really love will ever really know me

  16. Once I was 20 years old my story got told

  17. Before the morning sun when life was lonely

  18. Once I was 20 years old

  19. I only see my goals I don't believe in failure

  20. Cause I know the smallest voices they can make it major

  21. I got my boys with me at least those in favor

  22. And if we don't meet before I leave I hope I'll see you later

  23. Once I was 20 years old my story got told

  24. I was writing about everything I saw before me

  25. Once I was 20 years old

  26. Soon we'll be 30 years old our songs have been sold

  27. We've traveled around the world and we're still rolling

  28. Soon we'll be 30 years old

  29. I'm still learning about life

  30. My woman brought children for me

  31. So I can sing them all my songs And I can tell them stories

  32. Most of my boys are with me Some are still out seeking glory

  33. And some I had to leave behind • My brother I'm still sorry

  34. Soon I'll be 60 years old my daddy got 61

  35. Remember life and then your life becomes a better one

  36. I made the man so happy when I wrote a letter once

  37. I hope my children come and visit once or twice a month
