  1. Your Creative Purpose Romans 12:4-8 The Church at Mesquite

  2. Recap: The Greatest Giving Part II • Your greatest giving is embodied in these three practical ways: • Treasure (money) • We are expected to give at least 20% of our gross income • We are to use our $ to help those in need • Talents • We are to use them to help others in need • We are to use them to show love to others • We are to use them to build up the church • Time • Should be devoted to bible study, prayer, fellowship, and loving and helping others The Church at Mesquite

  3. Scriptural Text – Romans 12:4-8 • 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. The Church at Mesquite

  4. Everyone has a gift • Paul mentions that we are all part of a Spiritual body, and as such, we all have a function. (I Cor. 6:15, Eph. 3:6, 4:25,5:30; Col. 3:15) • Each of us has a gift, and that gift should be used for the building of the Kingdom • prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, contributing to the needs of others, leadership, showing mercy The Church at Mesquite

  5. Everyone has a purpose • Gifts are given according to God’s grace (v.6) • As such, everyone has a purpose based on their gifts • And we know that all things work together for those who love God; to those who are called according to His purpose. (Rom. 8:28) The Church at Mesquite

  6. What is your creative purpose? • You have a general creative purpose: • To be pleasing to God and to get as close to Him as possible, ultimately being in His heavenly presence (II Cor. 5:1-10) • How do you determine what your specific creative purpose is? The Church at Mesquite

  7. Your Creative Purpose • What do you like to do? • There are some things that you would do all the time if you were able. The Church at Mesquite

  8. Your Creative Purpose • What can you do well? • There are things that you can do that no one else can do as well. The Church at Mesquite

  9. Your Creative Purpose • What things can you do that glorify God and help others? • The measure of our religion: • Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27) The Church at Mesquite

  10. Your Creative Purpose • When we find the meeting of these three things: • What we like to do • What we can do well • What we can do to please God and help others • Then we have found our creative purpose in the Kingdom. The Church at Mesquite
