Guidelines for Distance Learning • Plan the video using a simple outline first. • Write a script and practice reading it. • Have a colleague review the script (or collaborate on it). • Use a tripod to keep the camera stable. • Carefully choose a location for filming with uncluttered background and all necessary props ready at hand. • Ensure adequate lighting (in front of you and not behind you). • Have someone help with the stopping and starting of the recording if possible. • Recommended video length: 2 - 5 minutes (maximum 10 minutes allowed) • Recommended video size: 20 - 25 MBs ( maximum 1 GB allowed) • Videos of at least 320x240 in resolution • Agreed-upon video file naming protocol: Date-Subject-Class-Teacher.

  9. Communicating to Students via Web • Teacher web pages should communicate lessons in a consistent manner matching the required component sections. • Have distinct sections or separate pages for each of the learning areas (ex Math, Reading, Writing, Specials). • On each page, clearly distinguish activities by date posted. • Indicate due date of all assignments. • Explain how artifacts are to be handed in or otherwise communicated. • Refer to documents, forum discussions, or external links by their exact titles. • Encourage parents to download the following day’s videos the night before.
