  1. What do you mean by Dental Veneers and Crown? As per knowledge, dental veneers are also known as porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates are actually thin wafer, custom made shells of tooth coloured materials generally designed to cover the front surface of the teeth for improving your appearance. These shells are therefore bonded to the front of the teeth by changing their colour, shape, size and length. One of the most commonly used material for the veneer is the conventional porcelain veneer and Lumineers and composite resin veneers. Porcelain veneers are mainly used for correcting issues of shape or colour and therefore can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. Care forDental Veneers and Crown The AACD suggests that the brushing and flossing just as you would your regular teeth. So, proper brushing and use of non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste is also required. Therefore, you have to keep in mind that you have to consider limiting coffee and the other stain inducing foods. Other than this, you have to keep in mind that veneers will need to be replaced at some point. It does not matters how well you have taken care of it, but yes proper oral hygiene will therefore help the veneers to last as long as possible. Why veneers are used in Dentistry? As veneers are less intrusive option than crowns or braces, then veneers are therefore used to close the gaps between your teeth and to correct the small misalignments. Even on the other hand, patients choose veneers as a cosmetic solution just only to enhance the brightness of their teeth and to straighten their smile and also correcting some issues like discolouration, fracturing, or sometimes even chips. http://www.doncasterhilldental.com.au

  2. How to place the veneers? This placement at least needs one to three appointments maximum. Therefore, if the veneer is prefabricated, then it usually takes one appointment and if the laboratory is creating the veneer then it will thus take two to three appointments. Now we will take some brief information on how these veneers are created or placed. Usually, local anesthesia is not required when we are placing the veneers. However, it is totally dependent on the sensitivity of the patient. So, at first the dentist will therefore clean the tooth and determines the exact shade of the veneer. After that the dentist removes a very small amount of your enamel of the tooth just to provide a room to place the veneer on the tooth. One thing you will notice that an impression of the tooth is made for the laboratory and a temporary veneer will be placed on the tooth with a spot etching on the centre of the tooth which is away from the margins. After delivering the porcelain veneer to the dentist, the temporary veneer is removed and the tooth is therefore cleaned with pumice and water. Then the veneer is light cured for 60 seconds on all surfaces of it just to attach it to the tooth structure. Lastly, the dentist will therefore remove the excess material and polish the margin of the respective veneers. What is a Dental Crown? A dental crown is a tooth shaped cap which is thus placed over a tooth to cover the tooth and to restore its shape and size, strength and also to improve its appearance. Therefore, when the crown is cemented into place, and fully encases the entire visible portion of the tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Why a dental crown is needed? 1.Dental crown is needed to protect the weak tooth from breaking 2.A tooth that has been severely worn down, crowning is then needed to restore the tooth. http://www.doncasterhilldental.com.au

Crowns are generally made from several types of materials which include metal alloys, ceramics, and porcelain, porcelain fused to metal or sometimes with composite resin. Therefore the materials with which these crowns are made of is generally coloured and polished just to blend in with the original colour of the teeth. However, in Doncaster Hill Dental, we only use tooth-coloured materials which are completely non-metallic that is mercury free.
