She won the Pulitzer Prize, she was an American Journalist, she was a short story writer, etc. Placed at number one of New York's Best-Selling books and authors, Ship of Fools by Katherine Anne Porter. This book is recommended for all ages. This fiction based book will grab your attention and keep you thinking about humane society.

  4. Mr. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born May 29, 1917 and grew up in Massachusetts. John F. Kennedy became our 35th President of the United States Of America in 1960. President John F. Kennedy responds to the Vietnam War as sending more troops and supplies over there. There are currently 12,000 military advisors fighting the war, making it almost impossible to send more troops to war. President Kennedy has also sent 300 helicopters with U.S. pilots. As the government was warned and told to avoid war at all costs, it has now become costly. President Kennedy continues to try and help to make the best of what he has and can do. With the war raging on we have millions of people getting drafted each dayand the debt only seems to grow bigger in his hands. J.F.K. is very well liked as our president and people like his way of thinking and agree with the personality and determination he has set.

  5. T.V. Shows The Beverly Hillbillies places at the top as one of the most funny shows ever seen. This comedy keeps the audience laughing hysterically, I personally think it’s one of the funniest shows I have watched. The main characters include Jed, Granny, Elly May, Jethro, Duke, the Drysdales and Jane. Produced in Hollywood, the producers, Al Simon and Martin Ransohoff took part in this sitcom in September, 26, 1962. As the creator, Paul Henning suggested and informed everyone that they were the producers that he wanted. Jed and his family were just simple folk who lived out in the country as hillbillies but as Jed realizes that he has struck gold on his property, they all become instant millionaires, so they move out into a huge mansion! Even though they’re rich they still continue to live like they used to; ragged clothes, making soap and being themselves - as a family. And as the story goes this hit T.V. show became one the most known, comedies throughout the United States.

  6. SPORTS Jackie Robinson was inducted into the hall of fame. Robinson is the first African American baseball player in history. Robinson was 28 years of he when he broke into the big leagues and got signed onto with the Los Angeles Dodgers. “I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” He says. Jackie Robinson continues to learn new things everyday and hopes that he can make a better player of himself as the years go by even though he has already reached the leagues.

  7. Clothes False eyelashes, crazy prints, highlighter colors, mismatched pattern, tie-dye and bell bottom jeans are the new today of clothing for this year. These are a few of the styles that seem to be going around and making its way to the ‘new’ style. Other clothes, such as long skirts, Capri trousers are known as the evening wear for ladies Now, for the men it was something different. Instead of pale suits everyone is wanting the toned shades of the suits. So now, not only was the woman's clothing bright and colorful but so was the men’s. Wide ties for men is wanted and the ties worn are about five inches wide at the most. Leather boots and collarless jackets are slowly making their way into the fashion world also. Now a days for the men, casual wear consists of plaid button down shirts and comfortable slacks and for the girls it’s skirts.

  8. Movies One of the top selling movies known as To Kill A Mocking Bird is rated at an 8.5 and one of the best that the U.S. has ever watched. The movie which is directed by Robert Mulligan says that he enjoyed working on the scene with the cast. The book which was written by Harper Lee says that he did like the movie and it came out better than he predicted. Lee says that he was glad that Mulligan was able to direct the movie and that he agreed to it. The Miracle Worker is also known as one of the top selling movies and best of the U.S. as well. The Miracle Worker was rated at an 8. This movie is the struggle of Anne Sullivan’s struggle to teach Helen Keller, a blind and deaf girl how to communicate. Director, Arthur Penn says that he really did like being on the set of the movie and having the privilege to work with the cast and the people that had surrounded him.

  9. Food/Drinks/Snacks As its been confirmed there is a new type of butter than had been discovered in Australia. It is know as…powdered butter. The butter is said to taste exactly like regular butter just that it is powdered and cheaper Diet Rite-Cola which is also known as Coca-Cola is one of the most popular drinks known to man. People ranging from the ages of 5 to 63 drink this like its water and like it a need. I don’t deny the fact that I think its good. I think its more than good, I think its amazing and worth the money in spending it. Baked chicken, mash potatoes, bread and beans are on the agenda for dinner all across America. This meal happens to be the most popular of this year. And as people scramble and ask more of the delicious foods there becomes a demand in the agriculture industry to produce more of the crops, therefore the prices seem to be slowly escalating. No worries though, if that’s the meal your craving then don’t be shy, go ahead and get what you want!

  10. Cosmetics/Hair Products Within the last two years of the 60’s it seems that the make-up has become more dramatic through time. Powdered skin that’s either a pale shade or a tan for the foundation and or base. Dramatic eyes that is featuring mascara that’s heavily used. Lips are pale and glittering with lip gloss and dark shades of eye shadow such as blue and green are the ‘new look’ and Avon is just the product best for all of these things. Many hair styles consist of a lot of hairspray, it doesn’t matter what kind you use, if you use a lot then your good. Hair styles such as flips, the beehive and the bob are incredibly popular for the girls and just like I had stated in the last paragraph, they have to have a lot of hair spray in order to look right. Now, for the guys it consisted of more of the Beetles hair cut. Since the girls were scrambling around for the Beetles, the guys just figured that if they were able to pull off the hair cut then the girls would come scrambling for them.

  11. Who? Bleach blonde hair, skin tight clothes? You know who I'm talking about. Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe, another wards known as Norma Jean was born on June 1, 1936 in the west coast city of Los Angeles. Her mother was diagnosed with mental problems and would stay in the hospital for long periods of time, so Norma was sent live with several people over the passing years and during her stays there, she would describe them as disturbing and very unhappy. By the time she had reached the age of 17, she had managed to get a few parts in one of the Twentieth Century Fox. Norma or Marilyn continued to change her appearance. She had surgery done to make her nose look more prominent and her eyes to appear larger and she began using a great deal of red lipstick. Marilyn got her first major chance in the movie The Asphalt Jungle and then continued to appear in many other movies following behind it. She became a huge topic for everyone to talk about and how her acting was amazing. Some people did take the time to consider her seriously as well as others didn’t seem to see her that way. Marilyn has not yet gotten nominated for an Academy Award but many critics say that if she keeps going at this rate then she eventually will win one! She has won an Oscar though and is continuing with her acting “The real lover is the man who can thrill you by kissing your forehead or smiling into your eyes or just staring into space.” ― Marilyn Monroe

  12. Interesting! Lately a widespread of drug use called LSD has been going around. LSD accidents have increased gradually. LSD causes severe hallucinations and with these hallucinations it causes people to do irrational things such as jumping off buildings, falling or jumping out of windows, people throwing themselves in front of passing cars and so on with the bizarre behavior. LSD has in fact been proven to drive people crazy and can be bad for you considering the amount of dosage that someone is to take. Doctors have been asked to supervise or do it themselves in giving the dosages to patients. The patients have been warned that the drug is capable of causing such of the following that are listed up top and some are still willing to take it, others just refuse, and others abuse it. Normal Brain Brain on LSD

  13. Being A Teen Being a teen in 1960 which is also known as the core of “memories never dying.” “The world is filled with freedom, we can walk down the streets at night and not have to worry!” Taylor Mist says. “That’s true, but there's also a lot of racial criticism out there and we see it everyday. As much as we would like to stop it, its not something that adults or other people would want to listen about, especially with it coming from us.” one of Taylor Mist friends, Carrie Lovett states. So as you can see, there is a lot of freedom now a days, so much as to not have to worry about going out at night but there is still a few minor things that are wrong, such as racism. Racism happens everyday and the bad thing about it is when the teenagers try and report, no one dares to listen to them.
