Ahimsa. For 1st Grade. What. is. Ahimsa ?. Ahimsa. violence. is non. Violence is…. when you hurt someone’s body. When you say mean things to hurt someone’s feelings. When you do things that make someone feel like they are not as good as everyone else. It is forgiveness.

  2. What is Ahimsa ?

  3. Ahimsa violence is non Violence is… • when you hurt someone’s body. • When you say mean things to hurt someone’s feelings. • When you do things that make someone feel like they are not as good as everyone else.

  4. It is forgiveness ...and solving problems

  5. But Ahimsa is NOT violence...

  7. But what if someone hits me I’m not supposed to fight back

  8. You ARE supposed to fight back!

  9. But in a very different way

  10. You fight with kindness, your voice, and with your love

  12. Assignment #1 Draw a picture of Ahimsa

  13. Gandhi “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

  14. Gandhi • Gandhi lived in a country called India. • The people there are called Indians. ? • Some people called the British lived there too. They were not nice to the Indians.

  15. Gandhi • Gandhi wanted to change the way people treated each other. • But the British people didn’t want to change.

  16. Gandhi • Gandhi didn’t believe in fighting with fists. Ever! Even if someone hit him first. • So what should he do?

  17. Gandhi • Gandhi did a lot of different things to help people change. • He never ever hurt anyone’s body mind or heart.

  18. Gandhi was put in jail many times for not following the laws that were not fair. He never fought with his fist. Only with his mind and heart.

  19. Gandhi • Gandhi did so many different things for many many years and all of them were nonviolent. • Next time we will learn about this picture and why it is so important.

  20. Assignment #2 Write and illustrate a part of Gandhi’s life OR write and draw what they would do if someone tried to make them do something that wasn’t fair.
