  3. Basics of Logistics • Right Time • Right Place • Right Quantity • Right Quality • Right Cost • Besonderheiten of biomass logistics • low value good • high water content • partly Gefahrgut

  4. Components of a logistic concept Region/Place Infrastructure Time „seasons“

  5. Components of a logistic concept region local regional supra regional

  6. Components of a logistic conceptSeasonal Availabilty drying storagement Need Availabiltiy Needed storage

  7. Lines of equal distances Lines of equal transportation cost Components of a logistic concept Infrastructur Inland Waterway Railroad Highway Main Road Residential Road

  8. Goals of the logistical analysis Optimization of supply chain cost with regards to: • Size and kind of energy conversion plant • Quality and quantity of biomass • Regional potentials of different biomasses • Usable infrastructur Necessary planning steps: • Analysis of transport network • Analysis of available transport techniques • Seasonal biomass delivery needs • Time of availability of needed biomasse (e.g. time of harvest) • Local use of produced power and heat • Analysis of the use of process “residues”

  9. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Organic residues from industrial production Database: 22 sites with different organic residues (2009): • Leftover of kitchens 5 • Residues from agriculture 6 • Residues from from food production 5 • Slaughterhouse waste 6 potential from animal excrements (liquid, solid manure): • capacity >100 bis 300 kW 0 biogas plants • capacity > 300 kW 0 biogas plants • capacity > 1000 KW 1 biogas plant assumption: • CHP 8.000 operationg hours 40 % efficiency factor

  10. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Organic residues from industrial production Energy potentials: 22 sites with different organic residues (2009): • Leftover of kitchens 25 kW • Residues from agriculture 69 kW • Residues from from food production 17,600 kW • Slaughterhouse waste 114 kW assumption: • CHP 8.000 operationg hours 40 % efficiency factor

  11. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Situation farmland: • >10% of arable land is not used (fellow land) • 10% of arable land can be used for the production of energy crops Potential of fallow land: Suggested energy crop: multi year gras Result: • Annual production: 39 t/ha (26% dm) 10 tTM/ha • Overall production: 5,142,253 t FM (moist matter)

  12. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Cost of supply for feedstock 6,08 €/MWh cultivation, harvest, silage*: transport with harvesting trailer (20m³)*: Increase of gas price in NNovgorod to ca. 20 €/MWh 40% of total cost are supply cost  8 €/MWh distance of ~ 5 km for feedstock *source: own calculation based on KTBL and expert interview in Kaluga

  13. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Energy potential in 5km radius around farms kW

  14. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Energy potential in 10 km radius around farms kW

  15. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Energy potential in 5 km radius around farms + 5 km of livestock breeding residues + 30 km of organic industrial residues kW

  16. BiNeRu – Project ResultsOblast Nishny Novgorod Energy potential in 10 km radius around farms + 5 km of livestock breeding residues + 30 km of organic industrial residues kW
