Photo restoration

Take the time to salvage old photos that have been damaged by time or the sun and like in my case kids ripping the photos (I was the kid), and then do some photo restoration share them with your friends and family members who have yet to see them! There are many steps for photo restoration, to restore your old family photos, first, you will need to take out the photos from where ever they are and use a soft brush or an air blower to clean them, this is more important to do before you scan them.

  1. Photo restoration Take the time to salvage old photos that have been damaged by time or the sun and like in my case kids ripping the photos (I was the kid), and then do some photo restoration share them with your friends and family members who have yet to see them! There are many steps for photo restoration, to restore your old family photos, first, you will need to take out the photos from where ever they are and use a soft brush or an air blower to clean them, this is more important to do before you scan them. Once they are cleaned make sure they are stored in a dry place and flat, also make sure no photo is touching another photo face to face. If possible keep paper in between photos as a divider. Now if you are like my father who has placed them in an album, I would say do not pull them out if they are stuck there as you can damage the photo and your photo restoration will be harder. If your photos are ripped, do not use sticky tape to put them together, photo restoration in photoshop will allow you to stitch the photo back as new so forget the sticky tape. The easiest way to digitise your photos for photo restoration is to scan them and if the photo is too big to scan you can either send it somewhere to scan that has a big enough scanner like a photo restoration specialist or you can take a photo of it using a DSLR or mirrorless camera, by the way, you mobile is not a camera I would use. Scanning resolution is going to depend also on the photo itself, if it’s a small photo like the size of a passport then I would scan it at a high dpi like 600 or even more to extract as much info without sacrificing file size that will slow down your computer when editing. If the photo is a standard size or bigger than 300 dpi is perfect unless once again you need extra detail for really worn out photos that would require heavy photo restoration. As for using a camera I would prefer a hi-res camera like the Sony a7R2 or similar, yes you can use a 20-megapixel camera but that extra resolution in this case will make a difference. Before we move on from scanning, I would also suggest that you use better scanning software than what came with your scanner, VueScan is a great piece of software with many functions to help get the best scan possible from your scanner, I would also say go fork out some extra cash and buy the best possible scanner you can afford and one that can also scan negative film. Otherwise, you will do a bad job at photo restoration and then you will need to google photo restoration Melbourne to find a local specialist to help you. Ok once you have scanned your photo or photos, put them away somewhere safe so they dont get more damaged as you might need to scan them again if something goes wrong with your digital compy before you restore and back it up. To restore photo I prefer to use photoshop, there is just o better software than photoshop when it comes to photo restoration. Photoshop allows you to heal simple damaged areas easy with a stroke of the heal tool and for harder areas then you can use the clone tool. I will take some learning, but when all else fails turn to google and search photo restoration or photo restoration services or like in my case photo restoration Melbourne or Photo restoration services Melbourne so you can find a good photo restoration specialist that is local to you and they can restore your photo or photos.
